Something fishy about this

No way that's a 2006 but has 06 plates

Comes back as first registered August 2006.
Tax expired.
MOT to June 2020
Whether it's a clone or not???

Definately a pre 2002 model the taillights , the graphics etc are all early design and the later models like mine are grey sides.

I thought it might be the import year but that's still misleading and not sure how they are getting away with that

I had an import and it had the year of manufacture reg.

First MOT 2009 with 18,000 KMs .......................????

You could be right ,fishy .
Import would have a reg consistant with year of manufacture I believe .irrespective of what year it was imported,if not new at first registration .??

Or simply not registered (for whatever reason) until 2006...............

That's how it should be but I did once have a mazda mx5 that dvla gave the wrong year to when imported from Japan.
It was given a 1998 reg when it should have been 1993 ....I never told them as it looked better but was the difference between a mk1 and a mk2

But that was like 10 or 12 years ago I think their systems have improved since then

Strangely enough I had an Irish import car and can't remember the original year of manufacturing but it had the British registration of R 650 NCB and it was a lot older than that

Unless it was clocked 18k Ks in its first 3 years seems OK.............
Still seems dodgy to me ...that woukd basically have to have sat around somewhere abroad unregistered for 4 -8 years and then be shipped to the UK in 2006 and registered and then 18k in 3 years to 2009

If it is dodgy - shouldn’t someone, with the knowledge of the model from this forum, have some fun as well as protecting less educated buyers, by asking the seller for the reason behind the year / plate discrepancy?

And if it is dodgy, then advising EBay to remove it?

The only way to be certain is VIN !

its like this van that i bought it was sold to me as a 2011 it was registered in 2011 but was actually built in 2007 3.5 years before. I did not find out for 6 months and when i approached the dealer he gave me a full refund without question

It do look nice and it's not a stupidly low price, and from a dealer. Just ask them

I am not saying that this one is not dodgy, but DVLA are renowned for being inaccurate and not very clever at spotting discrepancies in information presented to them - partly because they are 'clerks' whose function is to collect tax. with little knowledge of vehicles, unlike DVSA,

In my opinion the Dft which is the Ministry responsible for both Agencies should have given the technical side over to DVSA years ago.

The mileage and MOT suggest it could have been first registered in 2006.........where was it up until then?................

............Owner dies before taking delivery (possible as 'oldies' only ones that generally buy new).....:whistle2:..............

..............Vehicle in storage because of problem with probate...................
......
.........Well !!............ it might happen !!

Other conspiracies/theories welcome.......................

:giggler:

It's very similar in style to my 2003 B544 going by the tail lights, indicator side repeaters and marker lights.
Maybe it just sat around unsold for some reason ?

PS don't like those additional driving lights, or the aftermarket graphics

I had 2 lhdrive imported cars and both bore the year registration of when imported not when they were actually made.

I had a 2006 B634 it was grey sided and the worst motorhome i ever owned it fell apart around me put me off Hymers all together

Not that strange.. I know of a few carb type Honda Blackbirds with post 2000 registrations..( The last carb'd bird came off the line in May ( some say June ) 1998 )
Simply not registered until late

Mind you, the plates on that van are illegal

GMC are a pretty reputable and experienced dealer so I would be surprised if anything dodgy was afoot.........................but who knows with dealers?

However, isn't that an assumption on your part that's it's the fault of the DVLA? There's many reasons as to why it may be genuine or dodgy but why is it the fault of the DVLA unless they're now responsible for every vehicle sale

Well not that I'm a trainspotter or anything but being a car nut I've always had an eye for spotting things on model year changes etc . So I know that the engine , gearbox and dash changed 2002/3 on the ducato
This model has the pre 2002 taillights , decals , mirrors, front bumper , interior cabinets etc but has the post 2002/3 dash . So it's possible it could have sat around for 3 years before being registered but it's still not a 2006 model and I think any dealer should disclose that to be honest .

I emailed them earlier and told them the above info and just got a one line reply saying "you're wrong it's 2006"

It isn't though , all the 2004 models had grey sides , different bumpers , different lights and different mirrors and interior furniture was different.

So anyone in the market for one beware it's an older van with older spec, mechanics etc at very high end money.
