Your thoughts are welcomed, bought a new Hymer 22 months ago the Hymer blurb and specs stated engine was Euro 6. Thought nothing of it but on a tip off carefully checked the certificate of conformity and to my dismay found its Euro 5+. Dealer went by all the manufacturers specs and so also mislead. Have a meeting with dealer tomorrow to discuss way ahead with ongoing water ingress issues (see other thread). Disappointed to say the least.

Seems very wrong but I suppose it depends if you have been materially disadvantaged.
Are there many differences ?

Bath council are proposing a pollution tax starting in 2020, it is suggested euro 6 will be free, anything below will be £9 per day. If this becomes widespread then being 5 will be at a cost. This is not justcity centre, will affect people travelling through outskirts of city on the main A4 to A36 route.
In consultaion phase at present.

You're certainly having some bad luck . When did the Euro 6 engine come out, and what was the date of manufacture of your van, as shown on the CoC?
When we were looking for one in summer 2017, we saw one on Mobile.de, for sale by Hymer at Bad Waldsee. We phoned them to enquire, and they volunteered the information to us that it was 5+, and we decided against it.

Hope it is sorted but most of the literature bumph you see is usually qualified by "may not be relative to... and check the spec" type get outs. Hopefully the dealer will sort this in some way. Good luck.

The “green zones” in France include Lyon but the Autoroute through the city centre heading North/south, and vice versa is exempt.

Perhaps an example for Bath to follow or I, for one, will take my business, and money, elsewhere

My euro 5+ passes the ULEZ so is pretty much classed the same as a euro 6.
If I was you I would run my reg number through the ULEZ website to see if it passes. If it does I wouldn't worry about it.
There are benefits of the euro5+ over the 6. It has less to go wrong.

Was it a factory order Stewart?
We ordered ours at Caravan Salon in September 2016 our dealer wrote Euro 6 on the order as current vans were Euro 5+. Fairly certain the Euro 6 wasn't available on 2016 model year DL's.
My dealer knew the situation so your dealer should have been aware.

Edit:
The Ducato panel van wasn't released as a Euro 6 until late 2016 for the 2017 model year so I wouldn't expect any CB motorhomes to be produced with it until at least 2017.
Ours was built in Feb 2017, the Fiat bit in Dec 2016, must be one of the first with a Euro 6 engine.

Hi
I'm pretty sure that I'm right in saying any claim is against the dealer. However I'm not sure that after 22 months you have a claim. Proof that you ordered euro 6 is also crucial, not verbal proof, unless you have independant witnesses.

As I recall there was a previous thread on Hymer having chassis units lying around for some time before build , dates of manufacture were earlier than the Hymer build date ?

Check some of the components for date stamps. Plastic parts particularly useful plus many under bonnet bits. You can build up a good picture this way.

We have 3 CoC's for ours - Fiat, Alko and Hymer . From memory, the time-frame is about 3 months, start-to-finish. It may be worth checking yours.
I'm surprised (or maybe I'm not o_O), that dealers don't check CoC's.

Fiat launched the Euro 6 engines in September 16. Our van was delayed as Globecar had to wait for the new chassis to be launched (and cost £1600 more IIRC) due to cost increases associated with the Euro 6 chassis,
Our van was ready early December 16

E4 E5 E5+ E6. Hmm? Lot`s of loverly extra money for the makers and sellers of the equipment. And loads of "Backhanders" for those making the "new rules". Considering the milage done by Motorhomes?, I think and exemption would be in order.

My VIN number comes up as Euro 5+ on the Fiat/Mopar website but my CoC states Euro 6b-Y. I questioned this as soon as I found out and Fiat have confirmed it is a Euro 6; they gave me thier internal report which differs from the Fiat/Mopar website stating 5+. I guess a 5+ doesn't use Add Blue either, right?

Used the ULEZ website

How to identify the Euro Status was posting by G7UXG who kindly clarified for me where I could find it on the actual vehicle as I could not find it anywhere on my documentation. All I had was the dealer telling me which was not enough for me. And yes it is significant so with the other problem about the water ingress I would get some professional help before the meeting. A word of caution, when I asked the c&mc legal team a question they were in my opinion not that helpful rather sat on the fence so you might want to look at an alternative source for advice.

Personally, I deliberately bought the Euro5+ in August 16 As I considered the early Euro 6 would have less reliability. Looking at all the recalls on the Euro 6 Im glad I have a Euro5+.

As mentioned earlier it passes ULEZ compliance.

Might be £100 per day if over 3500kg. The £9 appears to apply to cars and lgv but not hgv.

The bottom line is that the only acceptable emissions standard in future years will be Euro 6.

My understanding is that any new diesel vehicle sold in the EU from September 1st this year has to comply with Euro 6. This led to many dealers registering cars before that date even though unsold. It is now impossible to register a non Euro 6 vehicle and even though brand new they must be broken up and used for spare parts as they cannot be registered.

I make the above point to illustrate the future problems that the poster may have with a non-Euro 6 motor home.

I don't believe that if the vehicle was actually marketed as a Euro 6 (was it? that is the question.) that the dealer has an out. Is there any written record?

I would assume that the brochure was for the current year that it was bought in and that the actual camping car was from an earlier year of manufacture?

It will be fine for a few years probably but may well become a huge problem in future years. I believe that Paris is planning to ban any non-Euro 6 vehicles from entering in future years.

If you can do a deal with Hymer/the dealer I would do.

As mentioned earlier my van is euro 5+ but shows as being compliant with ULEZ which says Euro 6 is the acceptable standard. So either August 2016 vehicles are classed as compliant, or Euro 5+ is compliant or my vehicle is on the system as Euro 6.
Either way I am able to take my van where I want.

Not sure that it going to help. There was a factory outage in 2016 delaying production of all vehicles by several months. My Euro 5+ was actually produced 3 months after Euro 6 production had started, and although a Euro 5+ engine, contains other parts that had been modified in Euro 6 production. My VIN is in the range of Euro 6 vehicles also.

It looked at one point as if I was going to be getting a Euro 6 van. I told them that the deal would be off if that happened, as I wanted a vehicle with a tried and tested engine for reliability, with any common faults already well known; not to be a test bed for a new engine.

Euro 6 may give you one or two years grace on environmental zones, but it will also fall into the system eventually.

Not exactly relevant to the fiat but bought a 2013 plate Hobby on a ford chassis less than 1 year old low mileage etc 8 months later needed a part put the Vin number in Ford parts on line found out the chassis left the Ford factory 2007 so where had it been for 5 years not under cover that's for sure needless to say someone else has it now but did inform the dealer when p ex would not think the new owner is aware( just a guess)

My 2015 Hymer is Euro 5+, but I have got a print out telling me that I am OK for both the LEZ and the ULEZ. Will keep that in the moho.

This is interesting as there seems to be a difference in what TFL are classifying as compliant. I've just checked my Euro 5+ Malibu PVC and the result is :-
You are subject to the ULEZ.

From 8 April 2019 if you travel in the ULEZ you will need to pay the daily ULEZ charge. This is because your vehicle does not meet the ULEZ standards*.

Cheers
