Snow in benidorm (2 Viewers)

A little excitement this afternoon when a big palm tree blew down across the promenade road and demolished Spasso terrace. Now where do I go for breakfast tomorrow.

This must have a knock on effect to many of the crops there, for example the almonds must be in bud by now. Here in the UK imported courgettes are now worth their weight in gold according to an item on the news today. All due to the cold weather in southern Europe.

They suffered badly in the weather at the beginning of December that produced hailstones. I was amazed when I was up there between Christmas & New year at the amount of orange & lemon trees full of fruit but without a leaf on them. Absolutely ruined. Fields of them everywhere.

Heard a report they'd had 10 inches of snow in Valencia last night. Might have been 10 cms but that's still a lot. And not too far from Beni..........

It is actually a one way st and most times there are cars parked either side.
So that is the usual path for driving.
I have never seen it that empty, ever..

It turns out it was not snow but hail stones. Does not count .

They forecast iffy for today here but it's been sunny. We can only wait and see.

At El Berro it started snowing on Wednesday afternoon and continued through most of yesterday quite heavily so we had about 10 inches or more in places on the campsite and without snow tyres campervans were effectively snow-bound. Then last night the electricity went off in the village and the site until the early hours. Things have improved today and some of the roads "ploughed" by tractors.

More serious is the damage done to some of the pitch coverings where permanent caravans have green awnings stretched over frames for shade during the summer. The weight of snow has brought some of them down, metal frames and all. Nobody expected so much snow.

We set off for El Berro to visit a friend there on Wednesday. Luckily we decided to turn back. We could still be stuck there now!

I think so. We were walking back along the trail from Casa Leiva mid-afternoon when it started and it was already quite thick by the time we got back to the site.

MIL arrived this morning from Benidorm area, better weather here than her area. Unfortunately with the snow and ice last week she fell and hurt her hip and nose so shes arrived with black eyes and walking stick.

Isn't it raining in Lorca? It is in Totana. We went out looking for a snowy walk today. Had to go up into the mountains. On our return we were with many Spanish families out to see the snow. There's not much keeps them inside, whereas all the "cold country" visitors huddle inside their warm motor homes and complain about the cold
