Smod fridge not working

Hello all. I have a new second hand van. The fridge lights come on but the fridge doesn’t get cold. I am assuming it is kaput but does anyone know if there might be a reset switch ?. Lights only come on when on ehu . Tia

Many possibilities. There are separate power supplies and fuses for the fridge control panel and the fridge heating element which you should check.
It will probably help attract relevant replies from the start if you advise the fridge make and model. Is it a 'SMOD' fridge or is that a typo?

It’s a smad dw30 ce. Which only runs on 240. Since the fridge light comes on I am ruling out electric problems and guessing the compressor is not working. I’ll try again later today and see if I can hear the compressor come on…thanks

Ah, I've never had any dealings with domestic 'counter-top' fridges. I can't find a circuit diagram included in the Manual or on their website or elsewhere on the Web but Smad seem to have a very impressive factory in Qingdao if you happen to be that way.

There is another possibility, does your van have an inverter, ie a device that changes 12V DC from a battery into 240V AC like the mains supply?

If it has then maybe there's a leisure battery powering the inverter, and maybe the battery is nearly flat. Enough power to turn on the fridge lights but not enough to run the compressor.

If there's an inverter it will probably be very near the leisure battery, connected by very thick positive and negative cables. There may be a changeover switch that flips the fridge between the inverter and the EHU supply. If that's set to inverter then the EHU might not be reaching the fridge.

. There is an inverter, fridge in not plugged into that. Lights work on ehu but not a whisper of sound or coldness. Does this type of fridge have to be level ?. I am akso unimpressed with the docs available like zero.

If it's silent and not cooling the compressor is probably OK. Knackered compressors either sound normal or make clicking noises as they repeatedly try and start.

From what I've heard, compressor fridges are very much less affected by not being level, compared to 3-way fridges. It's one of their big advantages.
