Morning All.
I’ve had my van (Autotrail Scout SE 2005) 5 years nearly now and have never been able to work out what the metal bracket type piece is for. I remove the covers and sling them behind the drivers seat when not travelling but never understood why it has the metal strip on them. They look like they should hang somewhere but the only place they fit is on the bottom of the blinds metal catch (but I wouldn’t put them there as they’d break the blind). Anyone got similar and know what the purpose of them is. Thanks in advance. Dave.

On the 2003 too. You may have a rail on the wall that it will clip on to. Not the sturdiest so did away with the rail but you could retrofit to give additional shelf space.

do the covers fit in the slot to allow vertical storage
Not sure which slot you mean but I can’t connect them together if that’s what you mean as I’ve tried. Lol. Cheers anyway.

Does it clip under the worktop to make a shelf/ draining board?
I’ve thought that but can’t find any rails anywhere it would attach to. Assume it may be something you can retrofit like an awning type rail but wasn’t sure. Cheers Anyway.

Cheers so there can be a rail. I don’t seem to have one so maybe the previous owners did likewise to yourself and removed it. Don’t think you’d gain that much surface area and like you said probably wouldn’t be that sturdy so wouldn’t likely use them myself. Thanks for the reply.

If you haven’t got the mating rail I have a length in my garage your leaf just clips on and it’s steady and makes a very good extension shelf , if you want it just send me your address and I will post it at cost .just drill a few holes where you want it and bobs your uncle (y)

I didn't actually remove mine. Apparently AT just stopped fitting them. If we found we needed more workspace and had an appropriate location I'd probably give it a go

Thanks for the offer Mike.

I did think about making some sort of bracket and shelf to go over the steering wheel / drivers seat as it’s just wasted space so if you don’t need it I could probably make use of it and fabricate something and use the covers as shelves. I can’t really think of anywhere else suitable to mount it without it being in the way at the moment. Might have to have a think. Lol.

If you definitely don’t want it I’ll have it but I don’t mind if you want to keep it. I’m happy to try and source some from somewhere else if needed. A picture of yours would help though if you could. 😉

If you don’t want it, message me you PayPal email if you have an account, or preferred payment method, I’ll happily send you some cash and my address. Happy to pay postage and a little something as a thank you. Just let me know what you want sending if needed.

Many Thanks.
Dave.

Our 2001 Pilote has similar, we have an alloy extrusion bracket fitted on the kitchen wall, the sink cover slides on to it as a shelf. We do not trust it to hold any weight so leave it at home. Originally we thought the rail may have been for a spice rack until someone on the forum explained it.

I searched the van initially thinking that it looked like a clip for a bracket but have found none on the van anywhere. It’s a mystery if they were fitted as standard as I don’t know where lol. I’m sorted now anyway thanks to Mike and the rest of the replies. Cheers anyway.

:? can it attach to the top sink edge?

On the recent Motorhome TV they reviewed a MH that had an odd attachment 'like' the one in your pic that on the sink - rather than a pop up extension.

Nothing on the sink or drainer to attach it too. Thanks for the reply but I’ve found there is a rail that I don’t have. Seems AT stopped fitting them at some point I’ve been told.

Slight issue with the rails I was sent. They seem a little too small. Sorry Mike. Sounds like something else AT changed. Lol.

Is it stable solid?
Wasn’t bad based on the fact I was holding the rail in my hand. Lol. Felt like it would work if the rail was attached. Just need to decide where to fit it now.

Hi Dave sorry that it doesn’t fit  The shelf on our van was a perfect fit and solid so I can see there Has been a design change . Try Magnum Motorhomes online service .or O’Leary’s motorhomes they both carry a lot of older parts .If you fit the pieces that you have now you may end up with egg On your face and also on the floor .good luck in your quest ...Mike....

Sorry - Late to the party....

Yes - That is exactly how they are supposed to fit. I have two i our Cheyenne; one to the side of the sink and one in front (above the fridge). The side one is useful to place the crockery before washing up!

I was just going to pop out and take a photo of mine which is exactly as above!! You have to TILT the cover 45 Deg into slot then lay flat. Please rem that when in postion it's easy for person sitting on seat to whack their head!!

Autotrail used to supply the rail loose with a new 'van, so that you could fit them where you wanted.
