Hi, the van is currently fitted with a single/solid mass flywheel. Yes this is a 2.8 Ducato. Please excuse my ignorance, but is this a 2.8 Ducato & has the vehicle got a dual mass flywheel just now?
If the van is fitted with a solid flywheel, it seems to me that a second hand one should be fine.
If it has a dual mass flywheel, thats a different story, I wouldn't fit second hand one of those for all the tree in China either.
Thank you for the help. Only had the van since November last year and only managed 4 trips so far. LHD - was planning a few trips abroad Lol!As others have said, if dual mass, you need a new one. Solid, secondhand will be fine.
Be wary of converting to solid, I have read all sorts of horror stories where they have had to go back to dual mass die to vibration and poor running.
Cracking is normally superficial and on the surface. I'd get a second opinion on refurbishment. If you do need to replace it second-hand is fine - heat damage is easily visible even to the untrained eye.Clutch gone and flywheel suffered heat damage and cracked
Ah be careful then, I believe the LHD Ducato has a different flywheel to the RHD, dunno why.Thank you for the help. Only had the van since November last year and only managed 4 trips so far. LHD - was planning a few trips abroad Lol!

There are plenty of German suppliers on Ebay selling new ones.
