Help! I need a replacement flywheel for our Ducato 255S 2003. Fiat want £600+ and I cant get a generic part anywhere atm. I have been advised not to buy 2nd hand from Ebay. Has anyone any advice or suggestions please?

Out of stock everywhere I have checked

Please excuse my ignorance, but is this a 2.8 Ducato & has the vehicle got a dual mass flywheel just now?

If the van is fitted with a solid flywheel, it seems to me that a second hand one should be fine.
If it has a dual mass flywheel, thats a different story, I wouldn't fit second hand one of those for all the tree in China either.

As others have said, if dual mass, you need a new one. Solid, secondhand will be fine.

Be wary of converting to solid, I have read all sorts of horror stories where they have had to go back to dual mass die to vibration and poor running.

Hi, the van is currently fitted with a single/solid mass flywheel. Yes this is a 2.8 Ducato.

Thank you for the help. Only had the van since November last year and only managed 4 trips so far. LHD - was planning a few trips abroad Lol!

Clutch gone and flywheel suffered heat damage and cracked
Cracking is normally superficial and on the surface. I'd get a second opinion on refurbishment. If you do need to replace it second-hand is fine - heat damage is easily visible even to the untrained eye.

Ah be careful then, I believe the LHD Ducato has a different flywheel to the RHD, dunno why.
There are plenty of German suppliers on Ebay selling new ones.
