enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
Hi, i am trying to buy sikaflex 552 to secure the satellite dish. i know there are alternatives, but it is the one recommended by sika themselves (after lengthy email correspondence), so it is the one i intend using. i previously secured a dish using 512 but have now been advised that 552 is a better solution for the application.

i can find it in black in the UK but cant seem to find white. Does anyone know any UK suppliers (overseas ebay sellets are quoting upwards of £15 deliver cost!)

Thanks

Someone posted a thread for a supplier who was around the £11.50 Mark but you need to do a search, it wasn't e bay.

9 quid next day delivery....

Why not use black if it’s local then run a bead of white around the base after ??

Hi
Just to let you know sikaflex 221 is also very good black or white, we use black.

I work at jaguar cars and we use 221 to bond the front windscreens in the cars and rear glass to.

I've used it hundreds of times its brilliant stuff but you have to be quick once applied to surface you have apx 6 minutes to bond to what ever you want, then it forms a skin then it's a little harder to work with, as long as it's less than 6 minutes you will be ok.

I used it to bond my solar panels on the roof on my previous Rv.

Please note once the sikaflex 221 has been opened you will only have a very short period of time before it sets hard, think around a week or 2 so be generous with it.

Just cleaned my roof all the white Sika around the edge of fittings has gone black anyway.

I used the marine adhesive on my sat dish, Sika 292i very high holding power with high shear.

Funnily enough was up the ladders yesterday checking the Snipe and solar panel security and the 252 I used for the dish is just starting to "blacken up".

When I contacted SIKA in 2018 asking for advice about fitting Solar Panels, I was also advised to use SIKA 552. This has a greater Tensile Strength than 512, (3N/mm^2 versus 1.8N/mm^2) /and has less stringent surface preparation requirements.

I used it, and so far the panel is still attached!!

Unacceptable!!!!!!! :swear2:
You need to be up the ladders every year or so like the rest of us trying to clean up the white stuff!

ps and is white not still the in colour in Essex? White patent stilettos dancing around white patent handbags?:whistle2::giggle:

pps best of luck with the fixing of the dish. Plan it out properly (you've done that bit!(y)) and take your time working through it methodically.(y)

it doesnt seem to matter what colour so long as the stilettos have been spray painted red underneath to look like expensive shoes and no-one dances around handbags cos they all get nicked .....

just need to measure and select a place for the dish and the cable entry (which will be into the cupboard above the fridge). I removed an internal plastic grill into the cupboard to mount the control panel and some additional 'gear' on a piece of plywood, using the original fixing holes rather than drilling holes or making screw holes in the furniture - once i am happy with it i will change for a nice matching piece of furniture board. If i ever change the motorhome i can take it all with me if i wanted and it would all look original again internally.

Next time I replace the sealent I am going to use BT1 look up CT1 BT1 has algicide in it.

Just ordered a tube for my awning rails, I’m hoping NOT to have to put screws in as well??

my two cartridges of 552 in black arrived this morning, in less than a week after ordering ....

Brownhills will do it and have an eBay shop. They are normally competitive prices too.

Thanks but I went for black in the end and did the job a couple of weeks ago.
