On one of the other toilet threads...lots of people mentioned that they put Aldi Bio washing tabs in the cassette instead of blue stuff....I thought I’d try the same....haven’t come across an Aldi in France yet but got these from Le Clerc. Will they do or do I need the Bio Aldi ones ? They are liquid pouches.Doesn’t say anything about Bio..the cassette has had no additive for 3 days now in the heat and I’m in danger of having to sleep outside ☹ .

They’re not cheap...nearly 50 cent(imes) each.....and they don’t say Bio....And they are plastic pouches.

Didn't work for us either, smells nice for 5 minutes when you put them in. Then 🤢🤮

Interesting one this. We tried Lidl Formil Bio liquid. 2 capfuls in the cassette And a weak solution in spray bottle for flushing / rinsing. Worked brilliantly, everything broke down for easy emptying, no nasty smells in fact just a nice laundry smell.
We ran out of it, so, SWMBO bought some Aldi Bio liquid.
Thought nothing of it, then started getting really nasty smells. Tried increasing the dose etc. Still stank.
Got to point where SWMBO said “I’m not going anywhere in that van until you sort out the stink”
Bought some Elsan Organic and all seems good, but the bizarre thing was that when I emptied the spray bottle of a weak solution of the Aldi stuff, it stank just the same. All that was in the bottle was Aldi Bio and water but it had really nasty toilet / waste smell.
You live and learn.

If you use the Bio tablets for the first time, they will NOT work. Any residual chemicals kill off the bio action and they will be useless. You absolutely must clean the cassette fully before trying them out.
They do work better than any of the chemical liquids and are kind to the environment.
Our first experiments with them failed but following a thorough clean, we and thousands of others have never looked back. I am not embarrassed as some should be, when emptying with people standing around.
I know it sounds odd to use these jelly soap capsules in the toilet but they do work.

thoroughly cleaned it with the green stuff...left it 24 hours but have since used it for 3 days....are you saying I have to clean it again ? And do they need to be tablets or will liquid capsules do...And do they need to be Bio ?

We only use the Lidles or Aldi jelly Bio type things. They are usually green (NOT blue). Some now come in a two part capsule with soap and bio fluid.
The theory is, I believe, that we produce bio-degradable material (poo and pee) and the capsules are designed to degrade it biologically. After using a cassette cleaner or giving the unit a real good clean. Leave a little clean water in to dissolve the jelly thing. It is especially good at dissolving solid matter and the wash out afterwards should actually smell almost pleasant. If not, check you followed process above.

If your in France and you have a sog , don’t worry about putting anything in, just empty each day or two.

do you put 1/2" water in the pan after use?? this seals the cassette and I've never noticed any real pong (maybe I have Covid!), except for grey water but that's a different thread..

Recently I've found here and in France and almost every liquid states that they contain --enzymes === BIO.

Have a look on the contents of French washing liquids.

You seem to have look hard to find one that is Non Bio these days

Each day ! I try and go a week ! I’d spend all my time looking for cassette emptying facilities !

Ah right...yes mentions enzymes....can I just put one in a 3rd full cassette ? Or is that a waste of 50 cents....not tight or anything.....But

It’s says 3 in 1...perhaps it will turn it into wine

I suspect they won’t have much of an effect on a three-day full tank that is well matured.... put them in a fresh tank. They work ok for us.
Oh...well I’ve put one in....that’s 50 cents down the dunny....literally

Don't put your clothes in the toilet cassette though.

Hmm, how often do you empty it ?
When I'm near a dump point, on an Aire daily, wilding when it's full swap it for my spare. Mines a swivel bowl so with 2 of us can only do 3 days, last van had a bench loo that would last 4 days.

63 US gallons. Used to last 8 or more days. The whole of Americana, with 4 or 5 grand-kids. Now lucky to get 3days. with just 2 of us, Still using proper green stuff from Aldi. Cheap enough and does what it say on the "Tin". Been considering, refurbishing the one we discarded when the seals leaked and I got a "refresh kit", and making storage in the back locker, for "emergencies".

We started off using bio washing tabs, which seemed to me to be ok.
Onto our second van, still using them, when we found hidden away in a dark corner, one of the small trial bottles of the "proper" stuff. Must have been there since van was new.
When we got round to using it, wife declared we were never going back to the tabs again.:ROFLMAO:
And we haven't.
