Hi, all you lovely people,
We’re thinking of downsizing from our a -class to a pvc but I think my shopping list will be a bit of a challenge! Here are the must - haves:
2 berths
At least 3 seat belts, or a safe place to fix a third seat belt
Very good insulation
Single beds long enough for a 6ft 3inch man
Under 3.5 tonnes
Pref under 6.5m long
Price under £35000

Any (fairly polite) suggestions?
Thank you very muchly,
A bewildered Chris

Usual suspects I'd imagine:
Globecar/Possl, Wildax, Adria, AutoSleepers Warwick...

As PVC's are the flavour of the moment, many constructors are bringing out new models/brands... but given the budget, probably not in your market yet.

Ha ha, ohh dear, not again...... (private joke that the OP will understand!)

Globecar Campscout Revolution - higher roof than most - even your lanky son can stand up in one. He's tried. ;)

Can even give you a 3rd bed if you need it.

Or Campscout (without the Revolution) for proper singles but less headroom

Grrr!
Can’t even post idle question on mhf without son finding it within 2 minutes!
Seriously, what l really want is the room we’ve got in the Rapido 9048f, but in a van the size of a medium pvc
Not much to ask is it?

Now now Mother, public forums are not the place for a family row. I even gave you sensible suggestions. Which you have to admit makes a change! ;)

Come on, don't let me kill the thread (I'll get an ear bashing :D) - who's got other suggestions then? Insulation sounds like a definer, many PVCs aren't so good on this I believe.

Looks like this has turned into a domestic abuse lol

Yes, she'll punch me in the kneecaps!

Stare menacingly at the bottom of my chin!

Little but lethal...….

Yep, good insulation as well as long single beds is a lot to ask for.
In my defence, I was just wondering if such an animal exists? Not in any hurry whatsoever to get rid of Doris, the a class,. Don’t worry folks, I’m well used to my men giving me a hard time:cool:

We had quite a shortish short list, but the cab headroom and the duplex wasroom swung it for us on the Adria
Im a short arse as well

I am thinking i should chnage before it gets too many more miles on it and is worth peanuts
You think a few more miles is going to cost more than changing motorhome? Interesting..

I think you can find a van but for £35k I'm not so sure. The Globecar 640DK is worth looking at, also the 2019 Swift 604 Escape if you don't mind 3m height as you can set that up into bunks.

But there are other advantages, a newer motorhome being one. Also our type of motor homing has changed so a PC would suite us better.

I found that the newer one went the better they got, there was an element of 'feature creep' too where one starts of looking for a basic small van and ends up with a much bigger and more expensive thing than originally envisaged :).

Do checkout the 640DK Possl/Globecar however, it has a most excellent shower/toilet/en-suite to rival many A classes and lengthways beds. 6.4m PVC.

Whats wrong with the 9048??
Absolutely nothing, only 17k on the clock for a 2008 van!
Our needs have changed a bit so we don’t need as big a van now, plus I have a distinct knack for finding the twisty narrow single track roads which makes navigating in this size of A-class a bit of a challenge at times. Also, despite it’s size you can’t use it as a delivery van quite as easily as a pvc with a side door. It will have to be a really special van to convince us to spend our money though.
Anyone got something with good insulation, 2 long beds and the space of an A -class in a medium Pvc? ☺️

We bought our 9048 mid March this year, for a van of this length it is amazingly spacious the lounge area in particular is about the best I have ever seen and what sold it to us. The bathroom is a little cramped compared to our last AT Cheyene 635, but is still usable. A great motorhome in my opinion.

I have looked at countless panel van conversions and every time I do, I feel the same thing. They are too cramped and claustrophobic for me, the bench seats are too close and the bathrooms are always too tight as are most other vans I suppose.

Coming from an A class like the 9048 to any Ducato panel van conversion...I honestly don't know if I would learn to love it or feel too cooped up when stuck inside in winter etc.

They do look lovely though, its a tough call.:)

The same thought had crossed my mind about down sizing, that was until I went inside a couple of pvc Vans. I found them too cramped . Ok for kids just going away for the weekend, but not really suitable for someone who is used to comfort. You need good weather so you can spend most of the time being outside. It wouldn't work for us.
