Well no mess up today with Strava. Nice and warm today so got ride out the way early.
Loads of cyclists out. Most passing me. You get that. Any way just a bit less than 20 miles today and kept above 13mph avg. So easy day tomorrow to get to my 100 target?‍♂️?

Secound time out on the new to me Cube.
Got a bloody puncture and the pump I had I couldn’t figure out how to turn it into Presta.

Neither could the other couple of cyclists so had to push it home around 2 miles ?

Can you set the app to auto pause? I know I can on both my Garmin watch and Garmin GPS. If the speed drops below 3mph it auto pauses. Useful when I have to stop at level crossings to let trains go so it doesn't affect my average speeds etc :giggle:
Or if you get off and push, just remember to push slowly.?

Usually unscrew the end and turn the rubber insert around. They have a large hole in one end for schraeder and a small hole in the other end for presta.

Done it again...... new bike!

The wife was getting left behind on her electric bike as it is limited to 15.2mph of assistance, then it is a heavy bike to make it go faster. So bought a cheap, broken, aluminium frame bike the right size for her and fitted £80 of new bits - bottom bracket, seat post clamp, rear cassette, handlebar tape etc. For not a lot she now has the opportunity to try to keep up with me :giggle:

I believe the frame was made by Merida for Apollo so should be good......

Before the rebuild.....

Rebuilt but waiting for gear cables and rear brake pads to arrive.....

You are obviously trying to hold her back so you can keep up, otherwise you would have treated her to the bike she so obviously deserves ;)

That's a nice bike but the yellow one was bought cheap to see how she would get on with a road bike after riding an electric Dutch style bike and an MTB. So far, so good......carbon must be in the future but this one weighs in at only 10kg.
The gear cables are not installed yet so I have stuck it in the 15 tooth gear and the test ride produced a max of over 17mph and an average of 13.3mph. Not bad ......

Did you work pump out when you got home?

Yeah, I bought another pump from the bike shop and it had instructions how to changes it ?

How to feel a complete numpty in one easy go.

In my defence more than one person looked at it and didn’t figure it out ?

Ohh and got back Sunday, went to the bike and guess what.
Puncture in the front now ?

Well today's ride. A short one. Wind was horrible and the a bit of hail near the end to top it off.
But anyway if we get our jobs back this would be ride to and from work?

You gotta investgate tubless, Those rims should be able to covert.
Dead easy to set up. Use Orange Seal sealent, rim tape, and a couple of tubless valves.
might need a compressor, or C02 inflator.
Lots of info on youtube, once set up you will set to go.

I’m doing the conversion.
I’ve ordered Stans conversion as it’s got all the parts and worked out a bit cheaper.

Stans sealant gets very good reviews and apparently seals bigger holes.

Ive just taken the front tube out as it was flat after Sunday’s ride ?

I found four thorns ?

And today's ride. The wind is still here. Have to get my finger out if am going to get my 100 miles for the week.
But your thoughts repeating the same few loops. So getting to know when the hills are. So know how to pace my self just before them and even how to ride up them if you get me. You think this is cheating in away?

Out with the wife to test her bike today. A cycle to her sisters to sit in the garden and then a circuitous route home to get 10 miles in for a proper test. The good news is nothing fell off or broke! A simple adjustment on the left shifter and a tighten up of the saddle and she is a happy cyclist.

That's a very large chainring, would a compact chainset not be better for your better half?
