securing cupboards (1 Viewer)

Just fitting anti slip mats in overhead cupboards etc and was wondering if anyone out there has ideas for a neat way of securing items while travelling,looked at the omnistops you can get but seems an expensive way of doing it,
thought about suction hooks and elastic strapping as I dont want to screw into sides.Any suggestions would be appreciated,Thanks

Hi,

We use spring loaded net curtain poles (plastic) placed across the inside of cupboards, these are availabl in various sizes (expandable) and reasonably priced. Hope this is helpful.

I use a short bungee strap between the door handles, and I have lined each cupboard with non slip mat. Also where plates or baking trays are stacked I have pieces of nonslip mat, cut to shape, between them to avoid damaging them when going over bumps.

I just shove cushions in the cupboards no shake rattle or roll, also use bubble wrap, compliments of work find it works for me:thumb:

We bought these at the York show 2 yrs ago have them on all the top cupboards ..The curtain tension poles are the same really not sure about the cost though.I used the curtain tension ones to put voils up round my van windows.

Well done Keith, just what I have been looking for and didn't know they existed.

The curtain expanding pole is worth a look at also, it may be cheaper as there is a credit crunch on the way

Ordered a load of cupboard keepers from Welcome to Van Comfort .Just received them and well impressed.At £1.72 each for the 35cm-50cm including vat and postage(£25 min order)They are sturdy,made of metal and come in various sizes and finishes.
Would highly recommend !!!!

In our current caravan (Abbey Spectrum) we had one of those horrible plastic moulded things for the plates which take up too much cupboard space and yet cant hold enough crockery!
Wipped it out and added another shelf.
MUCH better, but, the door needed securing for travel.
The under sink cupboard had push button travel catches on them so I got a couple of spares from the local dealer (came to about a tenner) and fitted them.
It meant drilling the cupboard door BUT because they matched the other catches, they did at least LOOK like they should be there and not just stuck on as an after-thought
