Scottish stay at home order ends Friday 2nd April

Do either of you know if we’re allowed 5 miles over our local authority border? There was a rumour that was allowed.

We will be doing the same. Strathclyde park for us. (y)
Sandra, if you're thinking of the bit just up past the C&MC site entrance I think they've got it barriered off. Might be worth pre-checking if it is there. They've also barriered the sides of the access roads to the site, and past, a few months ago to stop parking.

Cheers Grant. I'm thinking of the one I'

Yes, Its up to 5 miles from local authority border.

irnbru
Not the one I was talking about, Sandra, so you could be OK.
I was talking about the "back road" into the big car park where I've seen a couple of motorhomes overnighting on the gravel \ cut grass fields before it.

Does anyone know of a decent spot in Aberdeenshire to wild camp for a night. Suggestions welcome.

We thought about doing the same in the middle of nowhere just to get out in the van.

I do believe that it is within the guidelines if you dont leave your area. We need to give the motorhome a good run out.

Plenty spots around. Really depends what you are after. Just a night or an all day/night kind of thing? Industrial estate or woods? Cemetery car park or layby?

Anyone else getting ready for a local weekend today or is the cold forecast putting you off? We have our hot water bottles looked out. 👍

We seriously thought about heading into the Galloway forest for the night but have since changed our minds, instead we will just head out in the van tomorrow for the full day. I know nothing says you can't stay the night but no point at this stage antagonising the locals, I also don't see much harm so enjoy your night away.

There were quite a few vans parked in the LLPA area last weekend, some people just aren’t bothering about this year’s lockdown.

We have come to the same conclusion. Day trips it is. Enjoy yours!

Strathclyde Park maybe visit Chatelherault. We will be home by Sunday. Might even get bored and just stay out tonight.

From the government website:
  • local outdoor socialising and recreation (in groups of up to a maximum of 4 people, plus any children aged 11 and under, from no more than 2 households or 12 – 17 year olds in groups of up to 4 at a time, not subject to the 2 household limit) in any outdoor space, including private gardens. This can take place in your local authority area (or up to 5 miles from the boundary of your local authority area).

I know the stay at home has been lifted and we are allowed to travel within our local authority area but does this extend to overnight away from home? We have just spent the day in the galloway hills, in the car, a few campervans and a couple of motorhomes about but no-one obviously pitched up. It's been a most beautiful spring day in the hills, reached 11°!
