First time up Scotland in the Motorhome, passing through Fort William today and stop to stock up shopping in one go and get some fuel.

Never seen so many motorhomes, loads and loads of them.

However on three nights wilding so far, the spots we have been on, all online and clearly available have all been virtually empty.

So, is everyone on sites or is it just that everyone seems to pass through Fort William? My arm has been tired from all the waving. :-)

Fort William is motorhome friendly for parking and ideal for shoppers so always has plenty there.
Being half term will possibly influence the numbers but in my experience the wilders are well outnumbered by those who prefer sites. This year has seen record numbers and rental companies are sold out.
Enjoy the trip

Here in the South West of Scotland it's virtually deserted, two weeks ago it was heaving.

I love a day out to shop in Fort William, sometimes drive and outers take the train.

Issue with the train is you have to get a taxi to M&S foothill, but the old town is great for browsing and eating

Love the Crofter

That’s great news, so the hoards of newbies who don’t know MoHo etiquette have either gone home or are on camp sites. It’s probably because their vans are not equipped with much off grid stuff like solar etc.so they will be missing ‘Enders’ 😱😱
hopefully by spring they will be able to go back to Benidorm or Magaluf👏👏👏👏👏

forgot to say that Fort William is a bit of a magnet for moho’s it’s the junction for Skye and the Mountains plus Morrison’s and Aldi (may be Lidl).

You might be right, we are on a site near Loch Ness and it isn’t nowhere near full.

There is an M&S food there too. Food looked delicious but I already extended the mortgage to buy the motorhome so went to Aldi. :-(

Get a PVC, nobody waves at you.
I do but rarely get a wave back

That's a bit bigotry.

In August/September the local sites in SW Scotland were brimming full, normally deserted wilding spots were also very busy.
Now its October going into November the fair weather campers have gone home & imho they're missing a trick, turn the heating on & enjoy the scenery in all its moods.

The clip contains swearing.

I actually drive Ambulances for a living, Morrisons vans are fair game. 😫

Now sat up a car park in the Cairngorms. It’s bloody freezing and windy outside. A few motorhomes here and a couple of cars, one of which went straight to bed at 18.00 as they arrived. Not surprised as if we didn’t have heating, I would have as well!

The webcam at our Scottish second home shows a bloody motorhome parked in from of the house by the Loch tonight

You know who you are, have a great time and feel free to use the outside loo to empty the black tank and the water from the tap is free.

You've no idea how jealousy I am.
