We’re planning a trip to Scotland next year but haven’t finalised our route.

Our sons have surprised us with, ‘why don’t we meet up with you for a week?’. Fine with us, but we need a cottage / house that will take 6 adults and 4 kids. If we can find somewhere that will let us sleep in our van, then a place that will sleep 4 adults and 4 kids.

Dates are 27th May 2022 to 4th June 2022…..school half term of course. 🤷‍♂️

The Inverness area is their preference, but almost anywhere would be considered.

Quotes for a reasonable place come in at £2k+ We’ve done 3 weeks in Spain on our motorcycles for that!

Anyone got any connections?(y)

You're right, Spain, or France, would be cheaper than Scotland. Prices have gone through the roof.

£2000 a week is going rate. But if you’re getting that for 6 people it’s less than £50 a night per adult with kids free 😉

It’s £2000 for 5 nights. 6 adults, 4 kids under 7. That works out just under £700 for us adults each couple.

10 hour plus drive from home (if we’re not already touring), fuel, food and spending money probably totalling £1000 per couple.

Done a quick search for a large Gite in France (about 2 hours from Caen or Le Havre). We can take three vehicles over for a week, less than half the driving time and still not spend £3000.🤷‍♂️

What about a site that has static caravans and a touring area?

Eye watering prices as well. :( ……but thanks anyway.

As long as I feel I’m getting value for money I’m happy to pay……but I’m not feeling that, especially when I check out prices just over the channel, including all travel costs.;)

Not in anyway suggesting \ proposing (never been there) and maybe I'm mis-reading their website but seems to be £300-350 \ week \ static and £150 for a touring pitch.

I’ll see what the kids say. (y)

Maybe look at Millport, Isle of Cumbrae, not so far to travel ..... or Isle of Bute or Arran or any of the Slate Islands.

Just stopped off in Carrbridge . Took a photo of various self catering rentals being advertised on the Tourist Info Board. Hopefully you can zoom in to see details. Hope it is of use

No probs. We have stopped off at Carrbridge for a few hours as my brother and nieces are at Landmark Adventure Forest Patk which is just as you come in to Carrbridge. It looks fun 😃

Sorry, should have updated. They’ve booked a cottage near Inverness. (y)
