My satdish wouldn't stay up so I contacted a professional installation and repair company for advice. They diagnosed the problem and stated it was a common fault after a few years. No other fix was possible as it's a single item. They gave me a price of £168 for a new mechanism consisting of the internal cogs and labour.
I then rang my local motorhome repair man who said he'd look at it. After a day he said its ready so expecting a large bill i got a bigger shock when he asked for £20.
The problem was the two serated washers had rubbed away so he just renewed them.
I'm not big on so called professionals but much less now.

When I was working as a plumber an elderly couple asked me to look at their washing machine. I was working for the neighbours so took a look before going home. They had called out a company to unblock some drain and these scammers had said the blocked drain had caused a fault in the washing machine and it would need replacing. It is true the machine was not working but that was because the robbing swine had taken the fuse out of the plug ! How do these people sleep at night ?

I would rephrase that as beware of experts as I'm sure your local motorhome repair man does not want to be tarred with the same brush. :winky:
Local repair man to much of an expert to be bothered.

I was thinking more along the lines that your local motorhome repair man is a professional and your installation and repair company are the supposedly experts.
