Hi functors, we have a auto trail v line, currently heading back up France. When travelling we don't think the vehicle is putting much charge into the leisure battery, 2hours running and it only increases the %by about 5. We have 2x 110ahr lead/acid should the advanced settings be 110 or 220. Also where should the AH start point be set. Can't find these on any threads or tube videos.

Try visiting the Sargent website, there should be a manual on the ec unit and control panel.

The attached any use? About 10 years old, right enough!

Since 2008 & many years tugging
I don't think the Sargent unit won't have any bearing on charging from the alternator.
Sounds like you have a smart alternator but don't have a B2B.

That's exactly what I wanted, thanks. Our van is 10 years old. I now sort of know what I'm doing.
Doesn't explain the low charging though. Think I may have to invest in a b2b system.
Thanks again.

I Make Schoolboy Errors!
I believe the maximum charge rate through that Sargent unit is 25A. But, if you have other stuff running, such as the fridge, charge rate will be reduced by those appliances.

Most Sargent manuals seems to suggest not greater than 120Ah lead acid battery. As you have two, despite there being Sargent wiring kits to do it, you exceed that. Inevitably Sargent suggest the capacity limit due to the inability of recharge rate.

220Ah, 5% is just under 25Ah. Allowing for things like fridge running whilst driving it suggests your batteries are getting around 12A charge off engine which I suspect is about right.

One of the many reasons my v-line 12V has been upgraded with b2b, lithium and all sorts as the Autotrail standard proved so inadequate.
