I've arrived in France and can't get my Netgear nighthawk M1 with Three sim to connect. This is what the dashboard says, Orange not connected.
Any ideas ?
I'm thinking APN settings but not sure what / how to change ?
TIA

I can only tell you I had the same problem, it was the APN but I’m with smarty. Just noticed you’re with three so should be the same.

Yeah, I can't find anything on the settings marked APN settings, I'll keep looking

The router sim in my phone?

No I have an virgin sim in phone and that's working

Morning, still struggling with this, I found where to add an APN, but I've no idea what to enter ?
Where do I find this info and should it select manually or automatic?
At the moment APN is set to EE UK which is odd as router has a three sim on it ?
Confused

I know it’s obvious but have you turned roaming on.

Is your Netgear actually unlocked from EE?

My understanding is that the APN should always be that of your SIM provider; it does not change when you go abroad.

This is puzzling me, it's a three sim but the APN on the router settings is EE UK.
I've not tried putting the router sim in my phone as I'm now relying on phone data for navigation and if I bigger that up I'm lost as OH can't navigate to save her life.
It all worked ok in UK.
I'll probably have to read the Netgear manual but it's a 90 page pdf on my phone so not easy.

This is what I have.

So roaming on, showing EE UK (despite it having a three sim) as APN
There is a delete/add button that does nothing nor does trying to uncheck the blue button, nor adding any of the network selections it's scanned for.

Ready to throw the M1 in the river Meuse and dig out my old Huawei mifi 🤣

I still think the way to change the APN is through your phone, you can still change sims back and use your phone.

Ok, I'll try and change it in my android phone.
What to I change it to three.co.uk ? as per the sim type
Or will auto give me options ?

No as said before .
as below

I think you have to put in phone first, put in APN and make sure sim pin is off.

Settings, mobile data network, APN, Then sim pin OFF.

If yoiu have to put a 'pin' in to remove it then normally it is 1234 or 0000

then leave as unlocked/off

So when I've done this on my phone and put the phone sim back in, do I need to change anything back to original settings ?

You are " unlocking" the data sim . When you replace the vodaphone sim in your phone all the settings will be as before.

Ok, I decided to put the three data sim from the nighthawk in an old android phone I use for a speedometer abroad.
It worked straight away. Looking at the APN info it came up 3 and three.co.uk.

Put it back in the nighthawk and wouldn't work.
So I dug out my old Huawei mifi and again it works first time.
So I'm going to continue with the Huawei, fortunately the aerial plugs in.

I'll try and sort out the nighthawk at some point, maybe they have a help forum, but for now it's just a big frustration not really knowing what I'm trying to do.
Thanks for help 👍

After you've tried the advice above and still can't get it to work you could try a factory reset of the router. This is what I've had to do on my Teltonika router each time I've arrived in France. It shouldn't need this doing, but it won't work unless I do.

This is how to do a reset:

Reset to factory settings using the RESET button
Make sure your router is ON and plugged in or receiving power from its battery:
1. Slide up the cover at the back of the router
2. Leave the battery in its place
3. Locate the ‘RESET’ button which is below the battery
4. Using a paper clip or a safety pin, PRESS down the button for 10 seconds until the router resets.
5. Place back the cover on the router.
This will reset your router to factory default settings.

Reset to factory settings from a Web Browser
1. Launch the web browser of a device which is connected to the network
2. Type in Link Removed or Link Removed and login as an administrator
3. On the top right press MENU > SETTINGS > ADMINISTRATION > FACTORY RESET
4. Press RESET DEFAULTS and YES to confirm.
This will take about 2 minutes to reset your router to factory default settings.

Reset to factory settings from the Netgear Mobile App
1. Launch the NETGEAR Mobile App on a mobile phone connected to the router’s network.
2. Swipe down to Settings
3. Press 'Firmware’
4. Press ‘Perform Factory Reset’ and YES to confirm.
This will reset your router to factory default settings.

The default password is admin. I'm not sure what default WiFi settings are but I've read if you press and release the power button you can toggle through different screens on the unit's display and one will show the WiFi settings.

On my Teltonika the sim is left in during the reset and it connects automatically when it restarts, there is no need to enter an APN.

Now tha you've confirmed it isn't licked to orange, have you tried setting your apn as three.co.uk ? I do mine (m2) through the router menu.

I really didn't know what to enter so left it and reverted to the old mifi
I'll try what you suggest in a few days but everything seems to be working ok for now on the mifi
Thanks for help all

Check what the mifi is set on and copy onto the other router.
