I'm a newbie
My MH has been hooked up in the drive on Levellers with a self isolating occupant since Lockdown. No problems encountered and occupant has now gone. MH is a 2019 Adria on a deisel Ducato automatic. Not able to take it for a longish run and I understand from this site that deisel engines dont like just ticking over and operating for a short time. My question is, should I take it off the Levellers and drive the wheels 180 degrees to stop the wheels bulging or is it best not to turn on the engine and leave it where it is until it is used (hopefully) in a month or so..... Many thanks

Any reasons why you could not use it to go shopping to give it a run?

Greetings peeps welcome from West Kent. On a previous thread the advice was leave it alone after a couple of miles all your tyres will resume their original shape. Starting the engine will produce water which you can’t get rid of on tickover so forget that and enjoy the sunshine ??

Just today took mine for about 30 mile run .on starting the water fluid light came on ,checked all ok then started again fine.off I went next thing Cruise didn't work stopped to fill up and after making sure it went through start up checks off I go no further issues and as the trip went on was like a dream. I moved mine on the drive the other week ,so I would say take it for a spin.

If you start your engine run it up to normal operating temp.

You can sit in it and vary the revs.

No engine likes short running time as they produce a lot of moisture that can cause issues.

Grateful for your replies. I am reluctant to take it out of the drive at the moment. I live in Cornwall and to be blunt MHs and Caravans are not at all welcome at the moment. This will change soon hopefully I but don't want to take the risk my nearly new MH being keyed by some local yobbo. So my question is which is favourable? ..turn on the engine and move the wheels by half a rotation.....or do nothing until I can give it a proper spin?

Just go for a run out. You don't actually have to stop anywhere.

It will have spent a long time untouched in the factory dispatch yard and just as long on the dealers forcourt, I would leave it as is for now.

A local motorhome manufacturer has some 18 month old vans sitting in the pound. Never moved but will probably go to some loving owners eventually. Not unusual for a chassis to be 2 years old when it reaches its owner. Not really worried about a couple of months without use.

The only thing i would consider doing is get it off the levelers if they are the honeycombe type like the Milenco. but even that is not an absolute necesity.

All engines produce gasses etc there will also be some water in the combustion which is ejected out of the combustion chamber and through the exghaust. Run it up to normal operating temperature you will be fine these engines will do more idling waiting to get on a ferry or in a traffic Jam they are not made from chocolate or fairy wings.
The tyres normally fitted to a MoHo are designed for standing still for long periods you should be fine.

Thanks but The Police are still occasionally stopping Caravans and MHs down here in Cornwall
..

Stick Cornish stickers on in each direction.

Even if stopped, you live there.

About the only thing I would be concerned about is IF the engine had a DPF?. They do not like low rev/low speeds as they rarely get to a high enough temperature to regenerate. The recommendation given by the manufacturer of one Brand, is roughly 2 to 2500rpm for about 20min.

But you're a local. It's only to discourage outsiders like us, i.e. Somerset!

True but local yokel Plod and Yobbos are the same wherever they are from and unable to distinguish beteween a grockle and a fellow unbred especially if the MH have out of county plates...
