I don't know if anyone else has had this issue but I can't be the only one.

We have been intermittently blowing fuses and I tracked it back to the cigarette lighter point by the TV bracket above the passenger seat.

It wasn't until I took the power socket apart I could find out what the issue was and it's poor design, where the positive connection goes into the side of the socket, it's too close to the negative ring at the top and depending on what angle you insert the device into the socket it shorts and blows the fuse.

You can trim a bit out of the body and bend the power in connection further back and away from the negative, a bit of tape on the exposed connector and it's fixed, very poor design.

Bump - can anyone advise?

It's fixed in the last paragraph 👍

Replace the cigar lighter socket would be the best option.

I appreciated that ,the op has posted to reveal a potential design flaw in a cigarette type plug and socket. and has cured it with tape.
A photo may have shown the issue better as it appears to be due to inserting the plug at an angle and shorting . We all have similar type plugs and sockets in our MHs and a photo may highlight those that are causing the issue.,or not. (y)

I took a couple of pictures but not sure how to post them here, also without being able to edit them with arrows or circles it's hard to describe what I did, it's fixed now though, I doubt I am the only person with this issue.

I had the same issue with an Eldiss Majestic, if you put the male end in at a certain rotation it would blow the fuse, i sold the van before i replaced it , which i would advise you to do, replace it not sell the van.
