Hi everyone
Does anyone know of a lay bye, quiet motorway service stop, or anywhere that we could get our heads done next Thursday night.
Below London but close to Dover our ferry is at 10.35 am. The problem we have is that we can’t set off from outside of manchester till after 5pm Thursday as I’m getting a root canal finished off (best available appointment) .
we are a 8.3m motorhome.

Best for your size would probably be The camc black horse folkestone site has late night arrival

Ashford Sevington Business park, good parking, just off Jct10a

There's a waiting area for buses just outside the Park & Ride at Canterbury, the buses are not running at the moment, might be a bit road noisy though!

Last Friday night we arrived late on the tunnel, and stayed in this car park, at a lovely park, together with another 3 vans, it felt totally safe, it's on the outskirts of Dover on the Canterbury side. We're 7.6m and we were fine.

WE are in Chesterfield and have been visiting Folkestone we use the Little Switzerland CP a touring site off Wear Bay Road - yes it's a proper campsite and you may actually be the only English there
You can leave at anytime of day or night for your ferry
The owners Tony and Babs have a little cafe/bar at the top of the site

Have a look at search for sites. We found a small (free) car park in the country just behind the channel tunnel ( 5 minutes drive away), last time we went abroad - just before the dreaded corona virus struck!!! There seem to be a few further East, which may be more convenient for Dover.

We've stayed in a C&CC CS just north of Folkestone arriving late, but I can't find the details now because their website hasn't worked for weeks for us.
