Hi has anyone replaced the o-rings on a kitchen tap, MH is Dethleffs Esprit, did you just replace them and reassemble or did you use a silicon grease of some sort to ensure they were water tight. Don’t want to put everything back to find out still have an issue. Any thoughts?

I grease them to help assembly and ensure a good seal. Are you sure it was the O rings and not weeping down from the cartridge?

No matter what, if it's got an '0' ring it gets a spray of silicon grease.

Check the o-rings are still plyable, not cracked or brittle, especially the hot water feed o-ring. Use Vaseline to lubricate them if have no silicon grease.

Are they the original O rings or the replacement ones? If the latter are they genuine spares or ones sourced from a selection of O rings? The reason I ask is because the section looks a bit big to me. Too much interference and nowhere for them to spread to in the groove. I could be talking out of my a**e as usual. ;)

The tails are normally held in place by a small plastic peg located between the hot & cold feeds on the base of the tap. The peg fits in the groove on the tails to retain them in place. Best to lubricate the O-rings with either silicone spray or grease.

You may find you have to remove the tap from the work surface to insert the plastic retaining peg. If so, you can test the tap/pipe system insitu for any leaks. As mentioned previously, the leak may be coming from the body of the tap, possibly the cassette.

Many thanks for all the replies, not sure if the o-rings are original, MH has had 2 previous owners, 2006 model. Has any one a contact for getting original Dethleffs parts?
