This period of enforced confinement has got me thinking.........

When we are unleashed and can hit the road again in our new van, any tips or suggestions as to how we can be any kinder to the planet whilst touring?

We accept that the worst thing to do in the van is probably drive, but outside of that, what could we do to mitigate that aspect of van life?

Zero food waste.
Buy local sourced foods.
Eat seasonal foods in season. Do you need veggies flown here from South America in December.

Avoid plastics.

Recycle religiously.

Make sure that the van is well serviced.
Tyre pressures are correct.
Drive carefully for economy.

At home turn the heating down.
Fill the kettle carefully, only the amount you need, unlike my mum who boils a full kettle for one cup of tea.
Don't leave things on standby.
Walk, cycle or use public transport if available.
Don't use vehicles for a short journey.
Walk up the stairs, do not use a lift.
Turn lights off.

You missed out dying ???

I'd like to think we all respect the way the upside of this awful time is that the environment has improved, and we want to avoid taking a backward step.

Be economical with water... Do you really need ANOTHER shower.. Is the tap dripping.

Recycle EVERYTHING where possible (compost, plastic, cardboard, paper, etc.,)

Turn unnecessary heating and lights off.

Do you really have to go clothes shopping every week when you can upcycle something you already own.

All these things save money as well as the environment. :)

Hahaha. Must be different where you are. I’m expecting a hose pipe ban soon. Everything that stays still for more than 6 seconds has been pressured washed in my village, all the shite is now in the gutter blocking them, and during the pressure washing they got dirt on their cars, so they’ve all been washed too.

and I hasten to add, not by me. Not even got my hose ??

Yu'll need another new one it'll be that long.
If we run short of water this summer every member of the water boards should be sacked. Its been the wettest winter and early spring i can remember and i know from first hand working outside in it
You forgot autumn.

Drive less. Take your breaks near to home and if you want to explore further away make good use of the distance travelled by staying longer and exploring more thoroughly. Use your motorhome more and fly less often.

Does anyone need more than one a year?

Are you trying to enforce redundancy on employees of the deodorant industry? ;)

Until the big powers in China and the US climb on board we are literally peeling into the wind.

Got the motorhome because we hate flying!!
