Hi there. Having been quoted £1100 for a cambelt and water pump change on my Ducato by a Fiat Professional shop, it's maybe time to start looking for an independent to do the job. Can anyone recommend a garage within reasonable distance of Macclesfield, please?

Thanks a lot.

If it’s not too far, try Newcastle MOT Centre down in Newcastle-under-Lyme. They work on motorhomes and will be having my A class in over winter for a cambelt and water pump change.

Yes I regularly use them for our cars and motorhome. One of the owners has a top of the range fiat based motorhome too and they work on commercial vehicles. Maybe give them a call to get a price

Thanks for the recommendations, folks. All within striking distance for me, which is great.

More than welcome.

Would you let us know how you get on please ,.
Have booked in at Spinney in the end. They’ve quoted £650 for the belt and water pump and they’re about the closest to me. Will report on the experience.

Can’t believe how many places you ring can’t be ar$ed to return the call.

Dropped the MH off at Spinney on Wednesday afternoon so the engine would be cold for work to start next morning. All done by 1pm Thursday afternoon.

As quoted £650 for the belt kit and water pump plus the two ribbed belts. Old parts returned to me, must say they looked in excellent nick to my untrained eye. Happy so far, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Out of curiosity does anyone know what each of the two ribbed belts is for? Presumably the aircon compressor, alternator and power steering don't all operate off the same belt.
