UK Announces self isolation for folk returning to the UK from Belgium.
Me thinks France is not far off from being listed as a high risk country.
As if we here in the UK are not high risk ourselves!

The Self Isolation also applies for transit.
So if one travels Calais-Dover when traveling from Nederland, Germany, etc. one transits Belgium so must Self Isolate.

Another one knocking the uk. Our infection rate is still on a downward trend but you really don’t want to believe that. Sorry for spoiling your day.

Not 100% correct, the following has been taken from the Gov.UK website (y)

Transit stops
A transit stop is a stop where passengers can get on or off. It can apply to coaches, ferries, trains or flights. Your ticket should show if a stop is a transit stop.

If your journey involves a transit stop in a country not on the list, you will need to self-isolate when you arrive in England if:
  • new passengers get on
  • you or other passengers get off the transport you are on and mix with other people, then get on again
You don’t need to self-isolate beyond normal timescales if, during your transit stop in a non-exempt country:
  • no new passengers get on
  • no-one on-board gets off and mixes with people outside
  • passengers get off but do not get back on

Our infection rate has been increasing steadily since early July.
7 day average on 7th July = 505
7 day average on 6th Aug = 830

You can drive across Belgium in an afternoon without stopping. Can't see any risk of bringing the virus back to the UK after that type of transit unless you caught it before reaching the Belgian border.
