How do the Spanish long term caravaners run all their power off one electric hook up

We manage no problem on 6amp supply when in Spain. Solar panel and refillable gas help.

My question was not about surviving it was more of an observation around long term Spanish running cookers, fridges, microwaves, toasters, bbq's etc. All of which are household appliances and not low power models

You have to use them one by one I suppose, no other way. You can fit your own power meter to keep your eye on it, got one in the van, goes up to 10kw.

Some Spanish sites have decent EHU,

If you have a combination inverter/charger with mains backup you just set the incoming to say 5amps and then any heavier demand is inverted off your batteries which are then recharged over a longer period ready for the next big hit.

For example, if you have a Victron Multiplus 1600 inverter/charger, you can run up to 1600W while off-grid. A 6 amp mains hookup should be able to supply about 1400W.

You can set the incoming mains limit to 6amps. Then you can use 1400W from the hookup, plus 1600W from the inverter taking power from the batteries, a total of 3000W.

Not indefinitely, obviously, or you'll flatten the batteries. When power demand reduces below 6 amps, the charger will recharge the batteries, still staying below the 6 amp limit. It all happens automatically once you've set the limit. Victron call it Power Assist mode.

They use two hook ups with two leads, doubles the amps ! ;)

Last camp site I went to in Almeria the permanent campers had two pitches for all their crap that they collected

Still don't understand your point. Cooker: gas anyway, microwave: only on for a few minutes and uses just over 2 amps. Toaster: don't have one, use the grill in the cooker which is gas, bbq: gas of course, or charcoal. Fridge: very low power consumption or run it on gas.
