What - in the Bay of Biscay in rough weather? Not fun ........

If I have read this correctly, not only is it a much longer crossing than planned, it leaves 14 hours earlier. Strikes me that this could be a tad inconvenient for many of the passengers.

I am not a fan of this crossing after a number of difficult journeys and this doesn't help!

I did the Sunday night crossing.
2 nights on board. Depart refreshed and ready for drive.
I think 2 nights is great :-)

Unless the Ferry Co want a rush job the route normally would be further out in the Atlantic. that Avoids the worst of Biscay (from an old/ancient? mariner!!). We used it coming back from Spain and it`s quite a relaxing journey. More so than tackling the Pyrenees in dead winter!! towing a trailer in a 9tonne rig on icy roads following the Snow plough!! is not my idea of a Holiday!

Yes you read it correctly! In fairness they have offered refunds or rebooking. Hope we don't get too close to New York!:(

Is the reason for a 2 night crossing because of a crew changeover at Roscoff? Our booking to Bilbao on a Sunday night is a 2 night trip because there definitely is a crew changeover there.

I read somewhere that one crossing was cancelled due to tech issues....

My guess is the "turbo" has bust!... and it's running in safe mode!... ☺️

Make sure your mobile phone is switched on before you go! We once set off through the night to Plymouth (after being diverted from a sailing from Portsmouth) with our phone off. Got to Plymouth and found the sailing was cancelled because of bad weather! Ended up sailing to Roscoff instead. Why would you turn ya mobile off?.. Isn't the point of a mobile... being mobile ?
:imoutahere:

I have this old brick Nokia. Have this habit of turning it off at night - Put it in the van for the trip at 2am and thought it was on. Forgot I had turned it off :rolleyes:

Now sat waiting to board.told that we are trying to miss storm in biscay by going much futher out to the west.Sounds good to me but we shall see.flat calm and no wind here at present.
Cheers
Bernie

70 ft?

Shit. I meant metres.

OK !

Is that 70m up or 70m down or both ?

Stood on deck 70m down, looking up at a wave 140m above would be quite spectacular beaten only by being 140m up looking down into a seemingly bottomless wet pit.

Now we are talking exciting. Get those sphincters working.

We get nothing like that on the Manchester Ship Canal.

we will disembark at 07.00 tomorrow.!

Better than leaving the port at midnight.

Word of warning, if I remember correctly one of the ports bans MH parking on the streets but the signage was ambiguous, so high tail it out of there. Another of the Spanish welcome packages for us.
