2DE9D99E-6A80-4BA6-996F-1F6D035F33F5.jpeg I have 3 small cracks appearing near a support bracket screw in a side window, can anyone advise what type of plastic is used and a way of stopping the crack spreading.

Drilling a hole at the end of the crack will stop it getting bigger

This type of crack isn't uncommon & as long as its not abused, its unlikely to get worse.

The reason for trying to stop it spreading is the window was nearly £1000 pounds 1 year and 2 days ago. The original window cracked but on the outside and no matter what I tried it just kept cracking and I really don’t want to have to buy another one. The firm that fit it have been in touch with the supplier and hobby have refused the claim because its out of warranty (2 days):(:(

Ouch, I see why your so worried now.

What a bummer with the warranty etc.

As has already been said, the normal way of stopping anything from cracking further is to drill a hole at the end of the crack, but these windows are notorious for cracking further when drilled.
So it'll call for the very gentle work with a good quality drill.

Had that problem on our old Exsis and window manufactures wouldn’t cough up as they were 6 months out of warranty all four windows cracked along hinges.
Hymer didn’t want to know either.
Looks like it’s common problem?

its a stress fracture, so just drilling and gluing won't solve the issue. you need to remove the screws and fit spacers between the inner and outer panes

@TheBig1 You could be right, the original manufacturer was Parra Press ( I think) who went out of business. The new ones are not nearly as well made and are rubbish really. We have just returned from Portugal and i think the sun has distorted the window. The important thing now is to try and stop it spreading.

If you did want to go down the new window route, EECO will make replicas - may be better quality than the original.

@Feltwell when the original window cracked they were no longer available from hobby so tried EECO But they couldn’t make an exact match, plus they needed the old window to make a mould but would not give me a price for the mould.
