I'm getting the hump with barclays I have an account
Whereby you have to use a pin reader to access it

Within that is five accounts I want to view
Don't get me wrong nearly bugger all in them

But I still want to view them been trying for a month

Thing is pin reader has the middle line missing
Yes I changed the battery's reader is broken

Phoned the help line through to Ruth
No problem I'll send you a new one out
With you 4-5 days

7 days later nuffink

Phoned again Albert I haven't received my pin reader yet
And I need to access my account without faffing
And guessing if the nos an eight or zero

Oh right bill (grrrr ) gave him my surname
I'll order another you'll probably end up with 2

7 days later nuffink

Phoned up again got abdullah oh sorry my systems down
( so why answer the blessed phone then )

Passed on to ranjid oh yes we have sent your pin reader
To you ( me ) what address have you sent them to
Tells him the two addresses oh the second one
Luckily that's my new address so he now promises to send out another
And today is the seventh day
Moans at him about delay and time taken to answer the phone
I'm sorry says he
For you being in long que fo 20 mins

Every way I've tried to acces my account its asked for the no from pin reader
Thing is I can access our accounts by using Mrs t access nos as she never got a pin reader but it's not right

Gonna call em again and e mail the head honcho
Ask wtf is going on
Thing is my opinion for what it's worth all banks are evasive
And fibbers with any information
So jumping ship after 40 years seems to be on the cards

But who to they all seem to be the same
I know a certain other dosnt like.berclays
I'm leaning towards that thought
If they can't manage to send a card reader to the right address

I have the android Barclay's app and can see all my accounts, no need for a reader.

After we found out the local branch had employed a VERY well known shop lifter with several convictions to her name to work the counter, we pulled all our accounts out straight away
If their security is that poor, the Barclay bank group can def do without our pennies !!

I have a Barclays account that I access with a pin reader but it is also possible to access the account via a passcode and memorable word. This does need setting up when the pinreader is available so not much use to you at the moment but worth doing when you get the new one, similar thing happened to me. Not all services are available via this method though.

Never needed to try but I'm sure you can access your accounts with just your card; might be a bit of a faf. Check the logon page, mine offers several ways of doing it.

I just can't get me head round three yes 3
Have failed to arrive and they don't seem worried

I'm thinking they haven't been sent

And now I can't use the reader I'm blocked as I got
The guess (-assuming wether the nos an8 or 0 )
wrong 5 times ggggrrrrrrr

Nope been trying
all comes back to pin reader no required
to carry on
As I have had a reader issued previously

Had a new security no sent but without a pin reader
All that does is makes security questions disappear
When you talk to ranjid or fatima

Doesn't need to be a Barclay's pin reader you can use anyone.
Tried me nationwide one failed
My son is 70 mile away
And daughter is with nationwide

Looks like a trip to the bank assuming they will care

How did you manage to enter the wrong one of only two options five times.
Surely, if an 8 didnt work first time it means 0 is correct.

If 8 and 0 didnt work then it isnt either one.

Give Barclays the elbow and transfer to First Direct - I cannot fault the service and you dont need any of those gadgets just to see your accounts.
And there are no charges!
And before you ask I do not work for them ( I used to work for Lloyds!)

just tried to use my mobile, worked fine and logged in ok

To use the pin reader you enter all the requiem info
Name no rank inside leg
Then it asks for pin reader no
So insert Deb card press in security 4 digit code
Which then gives 8 nos
Type those nos into web page r u keeping up

Now I am guessing if the displayed no is an 8 or a zero
When I type it into the web page
It some how expects the same no that's displayed
To be typed into the web page
If it doesn't agree it rejects you

So then you start the hole sorry programme again
It's easier doing than explaining

This is exactly what happened to me. I spent 2 hours 44 minutes on the phone then got put back to front line menu. Tweeted my unhappiness. Manager was ringing me at home until 8pm changing systems and putting new cards and reader into place for first thing the next day. Plus a little compensation. #getitsorted

I have a variety of accounts as I'm a retired accountant, hence the nickname. For me Lloyds is the best as there is no Pin Sentry Device. HSBC have a tiny credit card sized gadget similar to a pin sentry device which is a pain. I also have a Barclays account with a pin sentry machine but its OK.

The one I can't stand is Santander but its a corporate account as its a club account and corporate branches are few and far between. Exeter and Bristol are 2 that were mentioned. Then I was told that my account was dealt with by the Remote Corporate Team so they're out there somewhere in the ether. Paying in cash has to be at the post office, cheques by post or in an envelope handed in to the post office. They are not part of the Bank Giro Credit system. When I took over the account I waltzed into the local branch and tried to pay in and was sent packing as if I had the plague - Personal Customers only are dealt with here! Internet banking minimum is £7.50 with transaction charges of £25 per month. Looking forward to getting rid of this and moving to Lloyds but they are not as good as they once were.

They are all trying to get rid of staff and force you to use nothing but machines to pay in or draw out but unfortunately there is stuff that has to be done by a human being now and again!

I always use a card & pin reader to get into my Lloyds account although I think you can log on without, but thats more hassle with all the memorable data malarkey.

I have been using the HSBC one since 2009. I think it is a fantastic extra bit of security. Failed me once and I phoned them up and they said the clock or something drifted. They asked me to do something (can't remember what) and it started working again.

Not had a problem since. They replaced the keyring style one with a card style one about 3-4 years ago and I now have to press different buttons to do transfers. But it means double the security so I am happy.

Sorry you are having problems with yours :(

There is a piece in the Telegraph today about the problems Barclays are having with their computer systems this week.

My Barclays pin card didn't work so went into the bank and they ordered a new one. 4-5 days they said. I waited but towards the end of the month when I had some bills to pay, I went back into the bank. They said they were out of stock but they might have a spare one there. But no, they didn't so gave me two batteries to try, which I put into the card reader and it worked !!! What a dumbo

If you do decide to change your bank account make sure you do it by using the switch service from your new bank, as many of them pay you to do it! They pay you from £100 to £150 but usually require 2 direct debits to transfer too (usually monthly ones) to qualify.

We have been with First Direct since inception in 1989. They are absolutely brilliant and I have never had a single problem with them in 25 years of banking with them.
They are currently offering £125 for new customers to switch.
