Similar to not being allowed into someone else's house to use the loo....... if I were being badgered into allowing use of site toilets, I would leave sites closed until you can use the facilities....... think we are lucky to be getting out!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't open them anyway
The law as it stands would allow us to open toilets but not showers, so the Pub argument is facile

Most campsites are not big enough to have separate toilet and showers so keep the lot shut and take bookings for motorhomes and caravans that are self contained

Tents and vans without a loo will have to wait until wider restrictions are lifted. Simple

May I enquire as to why this is even being suggested ? What’s the problem with using the facilities in the van ? I do understand that some people like the whole routine of wandering up to the shower block in a dressing gown and having a long hot shower . Surely it wouldn’t spoil the holiday if people used their own facilities in the van .

Not sure of a need for this?

I thought only self-contained accommodation was allowed to open, so only vans etc with all own facilities?
Or have I got this wrong?
No your quite right

Day vans and tents have to wait a while longer

Little chance of a change but it's always worth a try ---

Sorry, not interested, that's the reason we bought a self contained moho, with all facilities on board.

The only downside if the campsite loos and showers being closed is that has taken the fun of watching them traipse off to the shower block in
some of the bizarre dressing gown and slipper combinations with their towel over their arm.

I have a lovely memory of a very slim, attractive young French lady each morning when at Villasol in Benidorm.
Gracefully walking up with the sun shining on her face.

Only thing that spolied it was the little "pee bucket" that she carried to empty in the loo..:rofl:

Agreed . As Jim suggested it seems to be more a caravaners thing where they don’t actually use the facilities in the van .

For some it seems to be the highlight of the entire day ,like a well planned military operation.
I for one will never use the on-site facilities after an early morning visit to have a shower . The experience of using a shower in the same general area as others using a toilet is not one I ever want it repeat . It was the noises as much as the smell that has put me off for life . 🤮🤢

Last night my wife noticed a spate of cancellations for the coming month on CMC sites , as suggested it could be the tuggers .
As stated why would you not prefer to use your own facilities during a global pandemic.

If you want to catch any virus use a communal toilet. From colds to Noro, use taps and door handles.
You may use them not for me.

I'm happy to use my on board facilities. But they are small. If I have booked onto a site which had decent amenities, especially good showers, I'll happily use them to supplement my van. Lot easier to shower in a proper size cubicle than a tiny compartment with a shower curtain wrapped around you worried that you are going to run out of water.

But I'm not signing a petition to get amenities opened up. The whole idea initially is that those who can go out are still staying self contained, with minimal mixing. Only a small portion of the population has currently had the second jab so most don't have full protection, and many none at all. If we've had to suffer the most restrictive regime on our liberties, arguably harsher than those that applied even during wartime, let's come out of this gradually so we never ever have to go through this again.

i do wonder if the OP actually read the petition before posting. A petition on 7th April to open toilets on 12th April that only needs another 99,000 responses before it will be considered for debate by parliament which, as we know, is not exactly the fastest organisation.

If only it were possible to Photoshop memories ::bigsmile:

Nothing to stop people with tents & small vans without facilities using a toilet tent & Porta Potty, that's what we use to do.
We saw quite a few of these on THS last year.

Seems a good way to use tents when no site facilities are available.

Last year the Government delayed opening campsites until they thought it would be safe to open the communal facilities (with special rules). This year they got it right by recognising that the sites can open safely as long as people are not sharing facilities. This petition is very ill advised, the easy Government response would be OK shut the sites.

What surprises me is that it has got 1,000 signatures, Have they really thought it through? I would rather sign something saying they got it right.

Its a shame that we can't leave comments about the stupidity of petitions! Using a pub toilet is completely different to using a toilet block on a campsite where people not only go for a wee/poo but a wash too thus much higher risk of leaving CV infection (ie spitting from brushing teeth).
