Well its boiled down to the fact the missis has handed in her notice and will not be a teacher to the youth anymore (11-18) as she has suffered in various ways inclusive of her own battle. She is such a clever lass and has her PHD in Physics, and is amazing. Tried so very hard and influenced so many young minds. However, its hers that is fragile at the moment so want to concentrate on that. Maybe I dont have many outlets hence displaying it on a forum... apologies not motorhome related However, strength to one and all regardless. ?strength to all who maybe have had or are in turmoil. ?

No apologies necessary, there's always someone to talk to on here.
Sorry to hear of your wife's difficulties at the moment but if her health is suffering as a result of her job, she has done the right thing for herself and for you.
Did she get any support from her employer ?
Best wishes to both of you.
New Year and new start soon so things will look better in January :xsmile:

Don't worry about your woes not being motorhome related, we're a community here and always willing to support someone who has need of it.

'Tis true what they say, a trouble shared is a trouble halved.

One of the best things about Fun is that we can all use it as an outlet for feelings without having to feel the need to say sorry..
Hope things improve now your good lady no longer has to face the constant battle at work

Ryan
your'e doing the right thing by talking to someone/ anyone.

as well as looking after the missuss you have to look after yourself to look after your own wellbeing. Leaving work is the first positive step. look towards the carers groups in your area and get the correct support (first step ask for a carers assessment) then you will get real advice from people in simular positions.
google carers support groups your town area
eg
from above.
To find out what support we can offer you please get in touch to ask for a carer's assessment. The assessment will help to decide what support you need and how
I am currently involved with a carers group in Northampton (concerned with mental health issues)

I'm chairman of another club (four wheels and an engine of course) and we have a club forum. We also have a related thread rumbling on and its hugely warming, specially this time of year to see folks with a thought or two getting it out there. I'm new to Funster life (don't even have a MoHo, just thinking about it), but so far I do feel you are a decent and supportive bunch and all power to you for opening up and the positive responses.

One often has friends with kind words in more places than you think...

P.S. posting now as feel it's right to do so plus spending most of time catching up with Northernraider adventures

Teaching is a very stressful occupation. I used to come out at the end of the day shaking after dodging the flying furniture and some times the fists all day. It was like refereeing WW3 some days. You overdose on adrenaline but of course you cannot fight or flee! Also does things to your cortisol levels but I’ve never been able to get my head round that.
It takes a while to get over it. If your wife is open to alternate therapies I can recommend hypnotherapy. Look on YouTube, Michael Sealey is particularly good.
Please give your wife my best wishes and as one who’s been there, feel free to pm me if I can help at all.
She will get through this and life will be all the better for conquering it.

Don’t apologise we are one big, mainly, happy family on here.

Any one dealing with 11 to 18 year olds deserves a medal in my opinion.

Look after her ?

Sending you both a :hugs: and very best wishes. Make sure you look after yourself too.
Take any help you can, and feel free to vent on here.
It’s sometimes easier when you don’t “know” someone.

It is good your lady has such a loving and understanding partner. Think teaching is one of the most stressful professions. Relax and enjoy the space you have now, and apologies? no need so many wonderful supportive people on here.
:hugs::hugs:

ryan_flea Stay strong both of you. I totally get what you mean about the lack of outlets and on more than one occasion the lovely people of this forum have given me strength with their kind words, actions and support, when there seemed little of it available elsewhere.

Fortunately we are now able to talk about mental health issues. As stated previously teachers are not appreciated, when I was a school governor teachers in the main were at work by 8am still there at 6pm. Pressure was constant to get results with less support due to financial restrictions on schools. As also stated there is no shame in seeking support, often strangers are easier to talk to. A great weight will have been lifted but that is just the start of the healing, also it pays to walk with a limp then people can see there is something wrong.

ryan_flea good you have posted on here when I opened your OP not what I was expecting but that's what Motorhome Fun has developed into a big online community were people matter, teaching and pupils have changed so much over the years and probably because your wife cared so much it becomes harder.
I wish you the time and strength for her to start healing and know this thread is there for you when ever you feel the want to share.

The mind is a fragile thing, taking about things always helps but sometimes we don't have anyone who we can talk to, sharing your thoughts with strangers is sometimes easier, feel free to open up, there is always someone willing to listen here.
My wife has suffered from depression since I've known her (24 years+), we have good days and bad days but she is really open about it and we talk loads, it makes it so much easier.

I made my OH retire early for exactly the same reason. The stress of teaching was making her ill. I too had had enough, and we both retired early. It was difficult financially early on but the best decision we ever made. - It was not helped by the fact that she had her pension pushed back not once but twice by our wonderful ever-seeing government.

You've done the right thing, there's more to life than teaching (or physics for that matter). Enjoy yourselves and I hope you both get many healthy years of retirement.
