Hi Guys
I've a LWB 5.4m transit custom hi-top I'm thinking of converting. Approx same length as LWB VW T5.
I need 2+2 sleeping and 4 travelling seats. With it being a hi-top, is it possible to have an 'upstairs' bed as in a pop top conversion, or is it even possible to put in a pop top in this model to accommodate one? Or, is there another option for kids to sleep assuming adults sleep on settee/bed.
Thanks
Paul

I don't know for sure, but most professional converters offer vans in low roof with pop top s and upstairs bed OR a high top. Usually the choice is one or the other
Just saying

I assume its the one termed 'L2H2':

I can't see any reason why you couldn't fit a pop-top to it as the existing roof is part of the main structure of the van rather than a later add-on (eg fibreglass etc). With such a small vehicle I can't think of another way that you'll realistically be able to have 4 sleeping berths but I'd question just how usable it's going to be as even with the best conversion in the world it's still gonna be very, very snug.

Thanks Minxy Girl, that's the one.
It's just an option for my daughter and family, they are currently looking at standard VW T5's with pop tops which are snug too at 4.99m.
Thinking, whilst certainly not cheap, if I use the transit as a base vehicle, it should be a cheaper option than a T5. I've had transit from new and only 30,000 miles.
We will continue to enjoy our 7m coachbuilt lol.
Thanks
Paul

Go for it....it will make a great conversion for your daughter and kids, with you owning the van and knowings it’s history will make a better and cheaper conversion than an unknown T5 (and yes I’ve converted a T5 too.)

Oh.....and this maybe an option for extra bunks without a pop top......

Go for it. The transit will definitely be more reliable than the T5. A little wider to if I remember correctly.
Even in the unlikely event of the transit breaking down it will be much, much cheaper to repair.

There is someone on here who has just bought one & started to convert? Can't remember the name?
