One of our locker handles is getting quite hard to use, it's the lock as the key is difficult to put in/out of the lock.
Similar to this one, ours have same locks as van doors. is it easy to get locks re jigged so we don't have to have different key ?

We have the same locks and when they occasionally stiffen up, or have difficulty getting the key in, a couple of drops of 3 in 1 oil squirted into the lock works wonders .

Work the lock with the key and it should loosen up (y)

All the parts are replaceable. I had one shear off earlier this year as I turned to close the lock. Mine had an alloy casing which fatigued due to wear and tear. I regularly check mine now and if they feel stiff when turning I use graphite powder in the barrel and a little oil around the mechanism. The lock barrels are removable with the correct tool. Mine was broken so an expense from Hymer Germany to have the barrel replaced.

Not advisable to use oil in locks, may appear good at first but it attracts dust and muck and things will get a lot worse. Should use graphite powder lock lubricant.

Don’t suppose you know where from, how to order and which parts etc do you.
Ours has snapped off at the end where it is weakened by the slot machined in for the pin.
I was hoping to be able buy that part rather than the whole lock, our barrel is fine.

We were away at the time staying at Cornish Farm in Somerset having a Strikeback Growler fitted with VanBitz. I had just finished setting up, turned the knob to close the locker and it just fell off.

I got in touch with Travelworld who kindly couriered the replacement parts
overnight to me. I refitted the broken catch the next day so we could close the locker and secure it for traveling.

The actual lock barrel should be able to be removed with the correct tool and refitted in the new lock. My problem being I didn’t have the correct tool, so after viewing a YouTube tutorial though I would improvise with my own made up version - wrong! Unfortunately I ended up buggering the lock barrel so had to order a new one from Hymer Germany via Travelworld that matched my key. Took about 4 weeks to arrive
.
I am pretty sure any MH dealer or someone like LeisureShopDirect will have replacement parts, the twist push lock handles are universally used by most manufacturers.

We have the same locker handles on our Hymer. One refused to turn a couple of weeks ago. I assumed that the lock was the problem and tried using some silicone lubricant spray to flush out any foreign objects but it didn’t work.

The solution was to use the spare key. The old, main key had worn over the past four and half years of frequent use. It still worked in seven of our locks.

We ended up with three spare habitation keys from our dealer as the original spare key had been the wrong one. The dealer requested a key from Hymer and they are supplied in threes.

Amongst all the paperwork and trinkets supplied when the motorhome was new was a replacement habitation lock barrel.

I went to Inverness Locksmiths (well that's what they call themselves) today about these lock. Asked if they could replace the barrel for a new one with same key ?, no not possible, could they supply another barrel with a new (different) key ?, no not possible.
I asked for some graphite powder for the lock, why do you want that ? to lubricate the lock said I. We don't use it we use WD40.
So much for so called experts locksmiths !! Grrrrr

wd40 should be ok, agree don't use 3 in 1 oil.

20 years (unless you count my dads VW which makes it 52 years with a few gaps!!)
graphite powder is ok until it gets damp, then it gunges the lock up. WD40 the preferred choice of locksmiths these days. (around here anyway)

Motorcaravanning.co.uk are thinking ours maybe an Oberholz mechanism, even though it says STS on it, with FaWo key/barrel.
They don’t sell the barrel/keys but do do the lock mechanism.
I wonder if you @BusyBuilder may have to remove it so you can tip it up side down and flush it out with WD40 and let it drip out.
Our locks are working better after cleaning the keys with a toothbrush. I understand that just drawing on the key with decent HB pencil is enough lubricant.
