we were going to make one but now I have ben press ganged in to it pizza oven probably going to be one of the bigger project's at school.
I have cement and a bag of perlite and bentonight clay and some sand in the garage we have wood laying around
we have a week to complete.

On and off for many years.
I have had jays friend's asking when the pizza party is all ready
Well you can't disappoint us all........ :)

Seriously you will make a fabulous job of it and have lots of great pizza bake uts for Jay and his friends. Make it a condition they bring their own though.

Burning quick growing wood (such as willow and birch) is said to be carbon neutral. Depends on how much you burn and how often I suppose. Plant a tree to offset what you burn :)

Not sure what bentonite will be like but you need to add some sharp sand to your clay mix.
Mix up 3 samples, about the size of half a slice of bread but twice as thick in the following proportions ;
SAND CLAY
25% 75%
50% 50%
75% 25%
Mark two lines on them 50mm apart and then leave them somewhere warm to dry. Once they are completely dry, measure between the two lines and see which one has shrunk the least, this is the mixture that will give the least amount of cracking when the oven is fired up.

I'd echo jockaneezer's comments - clay can be a bit of a bugger when trying to fire it. There's all manner of faff that goes into pre-heating ceramic pots before they're baked hard, and there's all sorts of stuff you can mix into big clay objects to prevent them cracking too easily. Might be worth a quick look on YouTube even though it's just a project. Good luck with it anyway.

I went to my old yard and got some engineering bentonight I am allowing it to hydrat over night to the clay slurry I will aide
slurry 25ltr
perlite 100ltr
silica sand 50kg
cement 25kg
this might be to much materials but just want one mix job done
I am making a refractory cement it's a tried and tested mix
I will post some picks later
I dose not suffer to much Frome cracking I have ben told
before I fire it once set I will dry with a paraffin tilly lamp then tea candles for three days
it will then be fired only with the materials I have made with and very slowly bring it up till it is very hot
it will have chicken mesh thru it and coped fibre glass and will be abut 4" thick

its taken most of the day a the wife got a ne dining room table last week the old one was dismantled in the garage
made the frame in abut two hrs. it the hard board was off a door we had replaced was for the skip
the bentonight clay was up at my old yard
it's just basic bodging sum wood together the hard bit is making the base slab and covering with the cement
then waiting for it to harden enough to fire it
