Not enough
Got our new and first van in January 2019, had lots to learn and thoroughly enjoyed our travels throughout Europe.

Had a trip over to the UK in August to take the Grandkids away for a few days then returned home to Spain and put the van back into storage. Unfortunately the following week this area of Spain suffered the worst storms for years resulting in severe flooding and this is how the van finished up ;-

Due to the number of properties, businesses and vehicles affected the Insurance claims where handled by a government backed Insurance Consortium. Obviously it has taken months to sort out but we have eventually received compensation for the loss of the Motorhome.
Now we can at last think about replacing the van, off to the Alicante Motorhome exhibition the weekend after next to see what's new but 99% sure we'll be getting another Tessoro.

hope you got a good and acceptable settlement for it ! no doubt it will find its way back onto the market at some stage or at least the majority of parts, i cant see the insurance company not trying to mitigate their losses by selling/salvaging as much as they can. if it was fresh water (as opposed to salt) then there may be lots more recyclable parts - even possibly the whole van, though i assume there is a requirement to specify vehicles as insurance damaged/repaired etc as in the UK.

Best wishes and good luck with getting back in the game !

What rotten luck! I hope things resolve themselves quickly for you.

By the way, it probably happened because you referred to it as a “van” and it sulked. It’s a “motorhome” and a nice looking one, at that. It probably felt insulted.

Speak to your next one properly and you will be fine.(y):giggle:

That must have been awful for you but why we pay for insurance I suppose.
Hope you got a good settlement and can get fixed up with a replacement motorhome soon.

Eventually, we have the replacement Motorhome. Had a week away as far as Benidorm. Now hope to venture further when we're allowed to travel throughput Europe again, whenever that will be.

Nice looking MoHO.

I had a BMW R9T (along with lots of other stuff) nicked from our villa near Alicante.
Insurance paid out within 3 weeks and paid me more than i paid for the bike......figure that out. They said new for old. The bike was only 1 year old.
Linea Directa, thank you.
PS. that would happen in the UK eh, yeh sure.

Why wouldn't it happen in the UK if you've new for old cover? I have new for old on all my vehicles, and given inflation, it's almost certain a replacement would cost more than you paid.
Incidentally, does'nt Linea Directa translate as Direct Line?

Yes it does. I didn't know at the time i had new for old. Nice surprise.
Yet to hear anyone in UK getting more after deduction they invent.
Usually you have to take a 2nd insurance out "Gap Insurance" to get anything like new for old. I do have Gap on a couple of our vehicles, don't want to put them to the test.
