Does anyone use NOW! Broadband at home.
We just got the latest BT bill which was £28 when we took it out.....latest bill is £70.
We had a look around and NOW! seemed the best bet for us....£22 month for a 12 month totally unlimited contract Inc line and free anytime calls included.
No speed restrictions or caps whatsoever.
Due to come online on 6th may so we'll see how good it is then

I still have sky broadband but got an unlimited data sim from three for £16 a month . It’s faster than sky at home plus I can take it with me .

We have a poor mobile signal at home, even my phone uses the home WiFi for calls, so a SIM card router is not viable.

I'm with plusnet (the economy arm of BT), but they price match Now each renewal time. If plus net didn't match, I'd have switched.

I think NOW is 'related' to Sky....poor relation

I pay £17.99 with a shell energy deal for landline and no limit broadband. It used to be with the PO but has just changed. No free landline calls but I have no limit on mobile calls so always use that now.

My son used them in his last house. I think the only problem he had was that their router wasn't flexible enough for what he wanted, so he swapped it out for something different. Probably wouldn't have affected the majority of their customers.

I am also with Plusnet on the fibre connection at £23 unlimited with phone line, evenings and weekend calls.
We use a lot of data at home.. No issues to date over 7 years..

As you said Now is a brand via Sky..

Not really they were an independant company that BT bought, they still operate independently. Excellent service unlike BT, if you have a problem they are really good you get someone on the end of the line that knows what they are doing.
Been with Plusnet since 2002 and both our mobiles are with them.
And if anyone knows Lenny, I don't waste money.

We took out BT in the false belief if there was a problem they couldn't pass the buck to another company.....their line, their internet.
Only once have we had a problem with internet, can't remember what it was but I ended up speaking to some punkawhalla in India who couldn't have read an Indian takeaway menu without mistakes.
We have twice had physical line faults and they were only interested if we were going to pay the £130 engineer visit if no fault found.
He said he had problems hearing me due to line interference
The second was a damaged line due to a tree rubbing through to the copper wire.
Again he couldn't hear due to line noise.

I too am with Plusnet and they have been excellent.
You have to keep on top of their pricing though.
Currently £23.95 for 70Mb/20Mb [inc line rental] which is the fastest FTTC available.
I did briefly try their mobile offering but as they don't allow WiFi calling, it wasn't practical.

A new local outfit called Lightspeed has enabled the village for FTTP which promises 1000Mb but at a higher cost of £39.95.
I'll certainly consider this when my contract expires, depending on what Plusnet is offering at the time.
A gigabit download speed sounds enticing, but can the servers at the other end take advantage?

We use What's app for talking to our daughter in Thailand.

With the speed a lot of servers respond at I don't think it's worth it.

I've been on PlusNet for the past 6 years. We've been working from home for most of the past 2 years, so we've been relying on the connection pretty hard. It's been rock solid. Many of the neighbours are on Virgin Media and we see regular complaints as the whole neighbourhood loses their connection... while our PlusNet connection keeps blinking away. From work, other people on Teams/Zoom calls have flaky connections, ours is always fine. You can get faster and slightly cheaper, but I've not swapped because they've been so reliable.

The bundled router is OK (same as BTs), but I'm using my own kit, which PlusNet don't have an issue with.

Always use my own routers then you have access to all the setting.

I'm really into the latest gadgets and the fastest gizmos. Yet I've stuck with PlusNet even though it's 'only' 80Mbps download. But when two of us are on Zoom calls while my PC is doing some data analysis in the background, we're actually using a fair amount of upload bandwidth. We get 19Mbps, which gives me plenty of overhead most of the time. But I'd have to get a Virgin Media M200 package to match it, which is pretty expensive in comparison.

80Mbps download is plenty for most things. That's several simultaneous 4k UHD video streams. The only time it ever feels slow is when a game has a large update. Some games are truly colossal in size nowadays, hundreds of GB. But if you don't have the latest console or a monster gaming PC, I can't think of that many uses for more bandwidth... I can't justify it.

I think our street is getting HyperOptic fibre-to-the-premises broadband later this year. I might switch to that if they have a good offer. But none of the usual providers are tempting me at the moment.

Are you on a low income?
Here’s an article about Sky & Now broadband packages for low income users.

With a comparison of other providers lower down.

Installed and running.
Only niggle is the extremely short WiFi signal.
I'm only around 20ft from the router and only just get a signal.
Same distance on the old BT router was usually full strength.
Extender on its way from Amazon tomorrow which hopefully will increase the signal in the kitchen.
Already have two extenders for ethernet for the TVs which work fine.
WiFi calling does work on now network

I have the same problem with the router from Shell. After much moaning, they gave me £10 towards the £12 extender from Amazon. Works fine now 😀

Try switching the router to 2.4G, signal will travel much further than 5G.
I would bin the extenders each extender reduces the speed by 50%.
Get yourself a mesh system they are amazing full strength & full speed signal all around the house.

Virgin media fibre… 200mb unlimited for £28 a month with Wi-Fi calling. Happy with that as very reliable and nobody else in the village can come close to that for speed. They took over the original NTL fibre system and everyone else uses copper cable

I can't wait for my 18 months with plusnet to be up , their supplied router was awful , BT home hub 4 tech , its better with a BT smart hub 6 but there's a reason BT broadband is more expensive.

They don’t operate as a separate company, they are now a brand of BT Consumer (I used to be a senior manager there) as is EE, but they do have separate call centres and processes. The product is exactly the same as the BT one without the frills (like TV) and much cheaper.
