Hello. Just had my first trip in my campervan/motorhome. Not if my autoquest CV20 is one or the other. I did notice someone putting rubber mats under their tyres and was told they are a good idea to buy. Wondering if I could get some advice please. Any better than others?

I've been doing this a few years and I havnt got any and don't thing im missing anything my advise would be to use your van for a little while and buy things as and when you need them not ho and spend a lot of money on things you think you need but never use

We do this if the ground is soggy. It stops the wheels sinking in so much and means your wheels have traction straight away. I wouldn't say it essential though.

Very rarely we have had a problem, but one solution is to cut the bottom from bread trays to put under your driving wheels.

The Range has some plastic grip mats in the DIY/Motoring section.
From memory around £8 a pair.
They won't get you out of the mire, too short, but will help stop you sinking on a wet/soggy pitch if placed on the ground and driven onto.

I’ve used them once to pull off a water logged site. They dont weigh much and don’t take up much space so quite useful in my opinion.

A van badly tore up the grass in Chipping Norton last week. Total mess... that's why I'm asking.

If you get stuck/drop in, go to the owner/office before you do too much damage. Most will have a vehicle to pull you off.

The manager pointed out the mess and suggested I bought mats to avoid this.

It's your call, Gilly. In 'normal times' I'm mostly off grid, I've never used them. That said, I don't have most things that are recommended by people who don't live in vans.
