Manager at work has a bessacar on a fiat Base.2007 vintage.
Says he cannot select 4th gear all others are OK.
I said maybe linkage but he says it's been checked a couple of times by 2 different garages and it's not that.
Any ideas funsters.

Water in G/box. check oil to see if it's emulsified.
The syncro gets knackered. Happened to our 02 reg.

Hi
How does the water get in ? just had my synchro fixed £1000 may have been the previous owner as oil was ok.

Just a quick update.
It was water in the gearbox.
Thanks to everyone who replied.
The garage who he took it back to a second time and told them it maybe water in the GB asked how he knew. The answer.....
A friend asked on MotorhomeFun forums.
@Jim this is why we all love the forums.
A not yet funster gets the correct answer to a problem that 4 garages couldn't or wouldn't find the answer to. Keep up the great work.

I believe this is caused by the infamous scuttle drain problem. Am I right on this theory?

scuttle below the windscreen, the drain blocks and it overflows onto the gearbox dipstick contaminating the oil

Does it get in the so called breather at the top of the gearbox? Mine is a 08 x250 6 speed manual gearbox 2.3 litre engine , if this model is affected I need to look at a mod for the water leaking

Standing for long periods...

Seal perishing and water ingress is a big expensive problem with "Peugeot`s".. gear boxes... :(

Straight from the horses mouth sort of... :)

The mods have been covered various times on here. Involves adding extra drain holes and keeping them unblocked. Plus sealing the scuttle to windscreen.

There is a PEUGEOT issued modification that takes the water and dumps it down the back of the G,Box. When I bought it, it was in the region of 30quid. (Tiz a universal part fits Fiat Ducatto, Citroen as well as Pugs)
Haven't a clue to the part #, I just went in and asked for it

The water gets in thro the Linkages.
