Pilote on order
Hi all
I ordered a new Pilote Motorhome in September 2021, 18 months ago. The dealer originally said it should be available in March or April last year (2022). Then of course Covid and the Russian invasion of Ukraine happened. Each month I get an update from the dealer saying my build week has been pushed back usually by another three weeks. Currently it should be built in week 26 which is the end of June. If this continues at the same rate I do not expect to see my Motorhome until two years after I ordered it.
Does this sound right to you folks? I’m not getting any younger!

Welcome to Fun.

Yep, it's about the same, or near the extreme delays that have been posted in many contributions on here with all makes.
It seems to be largely due to the shortage of base vehicles.

I "ordered" (it was more like booking a place in the queue to order as there were no 2022 vans available) my pilote at the Feb 2022 show, but the order and price wasn't confirmed until around July/August last year when pilote released the 2023 prices. Originally it was ordered for build week 8 in 2023, which then went to build week 12, then 14, then 16 and now back to 14 again where it has sat for the last 2 months.

I am starting to get more hopeful as week 14 is only three weeks away and they should know by now whether they will have all the parts to build.

I don't have a chassis number yet though.

Your wait does sound a tad excessive but I think any orders in 2021 and or 2022 will effectively have become 2023 orders as there was a huge backlog. It appears the logjam is easing right now though so there is a good chance your build dates will stick this time.

I had a social beer with a Hymer dealer in the summer of 2020.

He let slip that even then, they had sold out their 2021 allocation and were looking at deliveries into late 2022, so it was over 2 years ahead at that time, not that they were telling the punters that.

Whilst delays and backlog may have come down a bit, I think any promise of a delivery in much under 2 years is a "Boris promise".
(Not worth the paper its written on)
