We spent 6 weeks there just before lockdown. North and south islands. spent about £3000 between us. . Hired a car from Omega who were excellent and stayed in back-packers or youth hostel type accommodation. It’s a great place.

Always fancied the place and the CAMC magazine came today, there’s a tour advertised, get in there.

Only £12949 per person.

I’ve never fancied that dump anyway.
We did it independently using share a camper, still costly though. Its a fantastic place to go motorhoming but the summer wasnt any better than Uk

Without doubt weather can be an issue ,bearing in mind nz situation in the south hemisphere around 40% south , first land mass weather systems hit , not know as the roaring’ 40s for nothing .

You must have been very unlucky. What months were you there?

We are in Christchurch NZ at the moment. Weather nice but varied some days as high as 30 others down to 12. We did 3 months a few years ago and travelled around . Best places for me are Bay of islands and Coramandel in the north. Golden Bay, Abel Tasman, Nelson, Nelson lakes, Kaikōura, queenstown, Franz Josef . We hired a camper van last time but it was fairly expensive. I would recommend airbnb as there are loads out here. Be careful with regards to hiring a car, apparently when covid struck a lot of companies sold off their fleets. Tourism is only just getting back to normal and there is now a lack of hire cars. Make sure you book one before leaving. In the south island we've found shopping a little more expensive.

That's the long trip, there's a shorter 28 days on the road trip for a fair bit less. We did that shorter trip through the CAMC back in 2017 loved every minute of it. would do it again if circumstances permit.

I am not a member. Is that a MH hiring tour?

If so, why is it per person? I can understand that the flights and some other costs are per person, but if you are 2 or 4 in a MH why should the MH cost more per person?

February and March
You were very very unlucky. They are the best months. We used to live there. December was usually rubbish but Feb, March, April and even may was much warmer and sunnier than the UK.

What year were you there?

It's the old "based on two sharing"

Post covid the world has changed, you can still travel but costs have risen sharply, air fares long haul have doubled and the leasure industry is try to recoup its lost revenue.
