What phone would you recommend for me as my Dorro with big numbers is coming to the end of its life, I’ve never had a smart phone or a contract as I use a pay as you go SIM card.
I would consider a smart phone but I’m thick where modern technology is any suggestions from you funsters.

thanks,
John.

What's wrong with the one you have, looks very nice and if it still works ok, why change it.

It’s started to play up our son emailed us last night that he tried upteen times to call us and just kept getting engaged although we were not using it.
We tried ringing it with wife’s phone and the same, so I took the battery out and refitted it but now it takes ages to ring when we try Pats phone to ring it.
John.

You will get as many recommendations as there are people on here but personally I have a Motorola g7 power and have not had any trouble with it , battery will last three days unless I use it a lot.
And has all the bells and whistles you can ever need, I use it all the time and since having it don't use any other computer.
Round about £130.

I assume you are using a computer to post here so using a smartphone won't be a problem for you.
Plenty of budget phones about that work well if you don't want to spend too much. A lot of the slightly older Huawei's are good value but steer clear of the new 2020 models as they don't support Google Play Services which makes them unusable with some apps.
A couple of weeks ago I bought a Realme 6, all the reviews rate it as the best budget phone basic version £209 I bought the one with 128GB of memory £260. But there are loads of good phones from £100.

Look at Redmi 8. Monster powerful and only about £110 on Amazon. It's the Chinese iPhone

Go for a cheap smartphone. They're as easy to use as any other for making calls and other 'phone' stuff but if you find only one other facility that suits you it'll be worth having. You might even enjoy it.

John,

I think that’s the phone I bought for my dad - he only had it a couple of months before he died.

We don’t have the charger but you’re welcome to the phone FOC if you would like?

It might just tied you over till you decide what you want ...

Pay as you go doesn’t rule out Smartphones 🤔
Between us we’ve PAYG Vodafone & Giffgaff in iPhones. 👍🏻
Mrs kevenh’s loves her Vodafone PAYG - before our Mifi we tethered to her phone 👌

We have Redmi 'Global Edition) phones, I've got a 6A and hubby has an 8, both great phones and don't cost much at all - oh they're also dual sim which is useful as you can have a contract sim in one and a PAYG back-up in the other, or 2 PAYG, or 2 contracts ...

A few on Ebay (new/opened) although we got ours from Gearbest.

Take up Grianan’ s offer you know the phone and if it has served you well why change?

I bought the new 4G Nokia 2720 flip phone because It's small and fits in pockets, it has WiFi, Google maps, what's app and Internet browser. It's like half way in between a smart phone and a stupid phone. The operating system is run by Google and similar to android with an app store.
£89 👌😎

When I got Bren her first smartphone she was adamant that she would never use it, give her back her old nokia brick. Now she has my phone every time I upgrade every 2 years and she wont look back at a simple basic phone again. Far too many useful apps to use

Smart phones are very easy to learn to use really. I always recommend samsung androids as they are super reliable and well built. My daughter was into iphones until she got fed up of them breaking and after borrowing mine will now never have another iphone

It's all Carphone Warehouse now at Currys. But our local lot were very helpful when I bought my Galaxy A40, helping me to narrow down the facilities I wanted within my budget. (As it happened they didn't have my final choice in stock but sent me down the road to another Carphone Warehouse that did).

I’ve bought an Alcatel 1 black phone I will have to see how I get on with it, I bought it from Tesco but they are not allowed to show you or demonstrate how they work because of CV.

John.

If you put Alcatel 1 into YouTube search, there are quite a lot of how to videos.

We have a motorola E6Play from Tesco great smart phone and a Nokia 3310 for just calls (has buttons and small screen so great battery life)
