One year. A whole one!
Sorry to ask such a difficult question but Udo, my 1992 Mercedes 410d RMB, needs a new exhaust and I'm really struggling to find somewhere able or willing to do this.

All the usual car / van places say he's too heavy and large for their ramps (4.6 T GVW).

Would anyone be able to advise somewhere that's able to do this, preferably near Berkshire / Hampshire / Surrey?

Long shot, I know, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, but the website makes no mention of them doing exhausts.

I don't need servicing or an MOT as that's handled by a specialist I know. Merely a new exhaust.

They do all repairs

I would imagine you have no intention of selling Udo, so would it not be in your interests to have a SS one made up by a specialist company.

Dave, correct. No intention whatsoever of selling.

Yes, I want a full SS system with brackets, etc in same.

Problem is, I don't know if RMB fitted a stock exhaust. A catalogue one is likely to differ.

My issue is finding somewhere that has the ramps capable of lifting him up, or willing to do the job on the ground. So far, nowhere I've called has the former or wants to do the latter.

And there was me thinking this would be an easy thing to sort... I've called at least 10 places and none are either willing or able.

Any garage that has a pit should be able to do that job easily. They dont have to lift it off the ground as long as they have a pit.

Thanks all!

I may have found somewhere, but need a favour from anyone with a Mercedes 410d chassis.

The place in question has a ramp track maximum width for the tyres of 2.2m. I need to confirm my 410d twin rear wheels fit that track. Can't find anything online.

If anyone has a tape measure and a few minutes handy, I'd really appreciate it.

My storage company has given me a dimension of 2.4m but I don't think that's correct and I need to be sure.

Brief update to anyone living within striking distance of Basingstoke and who needs a new exhaust for their motorhome...

I used a place called Fastfit Service Centre who are a Longlife exhaust distributor. They're based near the centre of Basingstoke and within easy reach of the M3 and A30 / A303. They had ramps that easily took Udo's weight and width / length.

They made up a custom stainless exhaust for Udo to my requirements. A lifetime warranty is included. I didn't want anything fancy, so went for function over form. As you'd expect, it works perfectly, looks 'factory' and does the job.
