Hello. Our offside drive shaft sheered on a Derbyshire hillside over New Year.

Van now back to sunny Worthing but with my garage unsure what drive shaft to fit, having never seen one of these Talbot Express vans upgraded with FIAT Ducatto 2.8 IDDT turbo. Wheels are 16". I think engine is from early 2000s.

Any advice please ?

Mechanic has raised concerns that existing shafts are at an angle due to engine placement further forward.

Thank you Theo

There are worst places to break down - just north of Hathersage is very beautiful and highly recommended

Ask on this site, a lot of knowledgeable helpful people on it.

Wildbill might have some info as he converted his van to a 2,8 . Thinking about it I'm sure he had to shorten the drive shafts & reweld them?

I converted the long drive shaft it a tubular shaft about 1" in diameter I then cut off the spline shortened the long drive shaft to suite machines it with a lathe to I thing 50 thousands of a inch over size then heated the tube and pressed the end in allowed to cool then I welded it in with tig welder
Done thousands of mile's without a issues
If the OP can post photos.
I may be abille to advise.
I will be out of country for a few weeks as of Friday next week.
