And I would like to know what the M number relates to that they seem to sold as.
The diameter of the hole I need is 26mm or slightly larger. Could somebody give me a clue as to the M number please, or is it a direct comparison?
(I’m buying from Internet)
Cheers. Geoff.

Usually refers to inside diameter in millimeters. So M5 is a washer with 5mm hole.
In larger sizes you may not get the exact size. Usually advert gives OD and ID. Outside Diameter and Inside Diameter.

Probably M26 which is a little bit bigger than 26mm

Best to just measure...... Oh beaten to it....

I was guessing that was the case, so thanks to all for confirming.

The just a shortened way of saying millimetre thread diameter, so if you require a washer for a 26mm thread diameter not the bolt head size then you require a M26 washer.
Tidying up toolbox and sorting Dad's stuff out, separating metric and imperial again. Surprised how many BA sockets and spanners we had accumulated over the years.
