Does anyone know the function of this tool which is in the 2020 Ducato tool kit along with the jack etc.. I can't identify anything it may fit and my assumption is it may be something to do with a spare wheel carrier - if one were fitted. If so, what would you be expected to turn it with.

Any guidance gratefully received.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought it must be. I've just had self levelling fitted and was taking the jack out when I came across that tool. And yes I have retained the towing eye.

Thanks again.

Is it the towing eye?

View attachment 531408

If so it screws in at the front to tow the vehicle

I had one of those on a car that I don't remember!

I also had a ski rope style tow rope;

When under load the 'twist' in the rope managed to unscrew the Towing Eye, which was quite exciting.

We had a recall on a 07 ducat where they changed the spare wheel carrier the new one was under the driverside rear wheel arch and came with an extention rod like that

Apparently, that is why most towing eyes are left-hand thread.
