Just picked the Royal Enfield 18 months after giving up biking. Retiring this Thursday needed something to occupy while the wife is still working?

So, whats it like then? Though still running it in I guess.

Looks great, I've had an Enfield Bullet for about a year now, good bike. First proper bike I had was an Enfield, the new ones don't break down every 5 minutes and leak oil everywhere like the old ones.

Thanks for the replies covered about fifty miles on it today, very pleased with it power full enought for me at 66yrs old on Saturday. it's going to give me an interest for my retirement, last day of work on Thursday
the wife reconds i can go out to play after i have done all of the chores that she leaves me, it will be the fastest time that hover ever moved.

Congrats on both your imminent retirement and gorgeous new toy. My 2nd bike many years ago was a Crusader Sports in spite of it leaking oil like a sieve I just loved it, fantastic handling and a bit of a looker. I think it was c1961 vintage. would be worth a small fortune now, had I still got it. Not as bad as my farther who had a 1000cc Vincent Black shadow, what would that be worth now, many many £000000's I bet.

I broke my left femur riding my Crusader Sports in 1967, nearly 3 months on traction.
A car pulled out of a junction on the wrong side of the road and I came around the bend and hit it head on, but it didn’t stop me from biking I only gave it up in 2011 aged 61.

1966 REGT best looking bike going--pity about the g/box though !!

Mate has a RE Himalayan uses it for work with panniers carrying his tools. He loves it 80mpg and ABS etc. I think he said the basic bike is just over 4k

Enjoy your new toy! Bought a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 and toured India on it in 1997. This pic is of me riding over the Rohtang Pass from Manali to Leh. This thread has brought back some great memories!

Helen’s better half here btw.

That looks fantastic, i have been following a dutch woman on you tube riding from India back to Holland on her own and not sticking to highways but going off road (Itch Boots) Very brave woman.

Forgive my naivety with bikes. Is that an Indian made Enfield then? Old neighbour (now has Alzheimer's sadly) has Three of them! And a gorgeous Grifolls Scorpion three wheeler.

Yes Royal Enfield are made in India

Kev,love it and the colour,I currently have 3 bikes and a maxi scooter the wife loves.
Am seriously thinking of cutting down on insurance costs to one bike and of course dare not get rid of the scooter :giggler: .
I have read a lot about the new Enfield‘s.It would be lovely if you could post updates, real reports from owners are always better than road testers in my opinion, enjoy.

Hi Brian,

Before i bought the interceptor i looked at a lot of reviews on youtube, have a look at Stewart Fillingham videos. i have only rode it for about 50 miles so far as weather and work got in the way, we are away this weekend in the van so come Monday i will have all the time in the world to ride it thats if the wife dosen't leave me to many jobs
