Try as I might, my MiFi only allows 'Limited' contact here in Spain. Which in effect means nothing other than to show how many messages we have missed. What am I missing or doing wrong?

Ours worked really well in Spain back in Feb/March try going to settings and carrier and do a manual search pick strongest signal usually works.

No problem with mine throughout Spain Portugal and France in April may and june this year,,,Still using it in the house at home,,BUSBY.

With my hauwai mifi, it sometimes says connect using utility interface, i have to manually connect by getting on the mifi homepage and logging in. something like 192.168.01 in the search bar on google etc.
Always works fine in the UK though, but using 3 abroad does disconnect a few times.

I have to do that when abroad,,BUSBY.

We've just had to manually connect also. We're in Sweden and it was working well but then it kept saying we were offline. All OK now tho.

Working great in Finland , great signal.

We had a similar problem while in the south of France last year. I called 3 from my mobile and they sorted everything out and even phoned me back every few days to make sure that the mifi was still working.

Thank you all for your help. At this moment still not working but after a couple of hours already spent, patience is at a low ebb.

We are at Honfleur at present working fine here(y)(y)(y)(y)

I had similar problem in Spain a few weeks ago and put it back to factory settings and started again, but be sure of you passwords etc. Also I always log on through settings as the app was not letting me.

If its a Three SIM we had to change the APN to 3internet name can be anything but once we did this it worked fine except only 3G not 4G.

Using the Huawei app touch the "settings" cog (top right on the pic above)

The next screen displayed should be similar to this.
Now touch "Network"

Make sure "Data roaming" is turn on then select "Network carrier"

Next first try "Auto-select" If your Mifi now does not pick up a Spanish network try "Network search" and choose an available network from the list displayed. It will take a couple of minutes for your MiFi to search for available networks.

IF this works for you you make need to repeat these steps when you move to another country or back to U.K. to select Three network again.

Problem was not straightforward until we phoned "3" who talked part of the problem but could not give us a MiFi code, so phoned TP-Link who gave us their code but could not complete the log in, so back to "3" who completed the process. Most work from the box they said. Perhaps because we bought it in Spain we created our own problem. Thanks to all who offered help.

Am I right in thinking that the "3" sim only last for 60 days while abroad. If you want to last longer you must take two with you , BUT they must be both activated in the GB. I also understand that what ever is left on the sim it can be used at home.

You can activate abroad. Yes they (and others) limit use abroad to 60 days so if you are away for a while take 2.

It's my understanding that it's only Contract SIMs that must be activated in the UK - and there is no reason not to, as you are paying by the month anyway.
PAYG SIMs can be activated from anywhere & as the initial data they come pre-loaded with is time limited from the date of first activation, it's best to wait until you need to use them.

Actually, I'm not sure if 'anywhere' is truly global or not, but it certainly covers Europe.

Mine was originally a 'knowhow' didn't work at all, went through several hours with helpline to no avail. works ok in uk. Now have an EEMiFi worked really well in Spain in October/November. John also had a 3 phone with him, rarely got a signal for wifi
