Had a friend whose ambition was to keep his cigar alight whilst waterskiing. Never achieved it to this day and packed up smoking anyway long since!
It must have been normal to ride/race with a smoke in the olden days.
Anyone notice something unusual in this picture?

The late, great Barry Sheene used to drill a hole in the front of his full face helmets so he could smoke with it on......

A different era. When I trained in the 80,s there were still opticians chairs with ashtrays built into the arms how could you last long enough for an eye test without a fag.

I our earlier days, a mate of mine used to light his fags while riding, from the glowing downpipe of his Triumph Tiger Cub which we had fiddled with and tuned. The head had been modded to use Austin 1100 inlet and exhaust valves and a big Amal concentric carb.
