Hi we have moved to the dark side (not our phrase but one from fellow caravanners) after over 30 years of towing we have just purchased a autosleeper Dorset campervan.
First weekend away was great and we even got used to the comfined space I just moved out the way when my wife shouted We had a problem with trying to fill the onboard tank but a quick trip to the plumbers following advise from several forums and we bypassed the Whale solenoid and all OK. a couple of other minor points and we learnt one lesson as we forgot when we moved the campervan to take on water it switched of the 12v power, we switched it bak on but forgot that the fridge would have cut out as it was on gas so everything defrosted. We won't forget again.
But the freedom of easy driving, being able to fit the autosleeper on the drive and being able to make use of the last day by visiting places on the journey home not possible with a cravan in tow was fantastic.
Going away agin this weekend so I am sure we will learn more lessons on the difference between a caravan and campervan
