My fiat Ducati won't start it has been ok all summer but now it turns over but won't start it's a 1998 2.5 d

Yes I thought that myself but is there a relay or do you just need to change the plugs

I changed my plugs on a transit, and it sorted the problem, but worth checking the voltage to them first.

Top tip is soak them in WD40 for about an hour prior to taking the old ones out

Have you tried turning the ignition on 2-3 times, and allowing the glow plug light to extinguish, then turn her over?

I had 1999 2.8TDI engine in our Hymer, and in winter, 2-3 warm ups of the glow plugs first before cranking her over, did the trick every time. (y)

Good luck.

Jock. :)

Has it got an immobiliser fitted, is there any sign/smell of a diesel leak in the engine bay ? How confident are you with spanners ?

I am pretty good with petrol engines but a novice with all things diesel the glow plugs are pretty difficult to get at and I don't want to pull thiatwithout remoat

Before pulling the plugs check they're getting power.
If you can reach the plug end stick a meter on then turn on the ignition.
Don't know what voltage they run at but any voltage will prove there's power getting there as a starting point to trouble shooting.

Have checked fuel getting through. I had a problem with mine a few years ago, turned out to be a fault fuel filter.

Could be a few differentthings.... diesel leak off pipes leaking .. diesel pump gasket gone..both letting air into the system.

Imobilizer from the pump...most people take them out before they bust and leave you stranded.

Try some easy start first.
