Morning,

Just had the bus washed and waxed. Got a winter cover and my question is, how do you get the cover on without an Vesuvius-sized argument with your significantly better half?

The bus is about 2.5m high and I fall off ladders with astonishing ease...

Any tips or clever ideas?

We had a caravan for years outside no problem (apart from getting filthy)
Covered it up one winter and in the spring it had mildew on the curtains. Bodywork was gleaming still though ?

Our experience with using a mototrhome cover was not good and we will not use a cover again on a motorhome that's parked outside, the reason why, well we used a cover over winter to keep the muck and grot off and although the cover was tight on the motorhome the wind moved the cover about and rubbed through areas of paint to the aluminium on the corners of the motorhome. The cover was not a cheap one, it was a Royal breathable with a soft flock type lining.

I had the same happen with a cover on a Mazda MX5 ,whilst it didn't rub through to the metal it did rub the top coat of paint off.

So you suggest not covering it and instead get it washed every couple of months?

Have to say, that is not the first time I have heard this opinion, but we have limited space and the overhanging roof of the house drips green algae and moss onto the motorhome roof. Looks awful and it can't be doing the bodywork any good.

OK, thanks all.

If it’s fibreglass I doubt alge will do any physical harm, wash it in spring or put the heating on and use it through winter?

I think you’re better off buying one of those very big tent/canopy/gazebo/marquee things. They let the air circulate without rubbing on the bodywork or trapping damp. Need a lot of space though.
